Chapter 947 Get Back Together

The documents on the desk were scattered all over the floor. Without thinking, Heather stomped downon them. As if that was not enough, she flung his computer onto the ground.

Bang!

The monitor shattered upon impact. The screen flickered feebly before turning dark.

Leaping to his feet, Alex glared at Heather. A ball of rage rose to his chest. “Are you done, Heather?”he growled. “This isn’t your house, but the office of the chairman of Four Seas Corporation. How dareyou throw a tantrum here?”

Heather could no longer think clearly at that moment. She was a woman without much capacity foremotional strength.

In addition, her misfortunes and pressures of late were becoming too much to handle. She could notbear another second of living through her broken marriage.novelbin

To attend Alex’s wedding appropriately dressed, I have sold my only car, yet he did not even spare mea glance. Worse still, he had even fooled around with my best friend. I can’t. I feel like I am on the brinkof collapse.

“Me, throwing a tantrum? Don’t you feel guilty at all for the things you did? I don’t know how little Imean to you, but at least I’ve never done anything like how you did to me. What about you?”

Heather squatted down and sobbed as though her heart was broken.

She knew how pathetic she must look, and the remaining rationale within her told her to pull herselftogether, but she could no longer hold it back.

I came to Alex only for an answer and to hear him explain what had happened. Am I that big of a fool tohave been kept in the dark all this time?

Heather’s howls grew louder. Her tears fell, like strings of pearls, as if expressing all the injustice shehad felt over the past few days.

Alex’s rage was instantly subdued at the sight of her. Aside from bearing me a child, she has given meseveral years of her youth. She still means something to me.

After heaving a deep sigh, Alex arrived before Heather, squatted down next to her, and patted her onthe back.

For the first time since their divorce, Alex spoke to her in a gentle tone. “Stop crying, now. If you want toknow what happened, I’ll tell you.”

Heather stopped crying at once. She wiped her tears and gazed at Alex with bloodshot indicating withher silence that she was waiting for Alex to continue.

eyes,

“Kate was drugged, and I happened to be there. After rescuing her, we were on our way to the hospitalwhen she kept… I couldn’t help it!” Alex felt as if he was about to die of regret at the mention of theincident.

His level of cultivation had been shallow back then. Besides, he was a mortal man who failed. towithstand the torment, which led to him doing something he deeply regretted.

Now, given his deep Mortal Force, he would have been able to suppress the evil fire within. him.

Remorse does nothing for me at this point. Now that things have turned out this way, I have to face

them.

“It was just that one time. Who would have thought she would get pregnant? We agreed to abort thechild when she suddenly vanished from the country and only resurfaced during the wedding.”

Alex covered his face and rubbed his cheeks hard to clear his head.

Heather gazed into his eyes as she listened to his story. She was almost certain that Alex was not lyingand was telling the truth.

Even after clarifying the whole thing, Heather still could not accept it. Since we are divorced, I no longerhave the right to be angry.

“Let’s get back together, Alex. I will help care for Kate’s daughter. Whatever happened shall fade intothe past. We’ll start anew, and I’ll do anything you say. We’ll move out, all three of us, and we’ll neverbother ourselves with my mother and brother. We’ll be happy, all right?”

Heather hugged Alex tightly, wanting to give it one last shot.
