Chapter 931

Chapter 931 Wallpaper

With Matthias taken care of, Elsa finally had a moment to take a proper look at the disheveled womaninside the car. “Are you Heather Jennings?” she asked in surprise.

Heather, who was trying to straighten her clothes, was equally surprised that the policewomanrecognized her. “Why? Do you know me?”

Elsa nodded but did not disclose how she knew Heather immediately. Instead, she pulled Heather outof the car and helped her tidy her hair and clothes.

Elsa then rummaged through her bag, pulled out her cosmetics, and offered them to Heather. “Wouldyou like to freshen up? Or should I take you home?”

Without hesitation, Heather accepted Elsa’s cosmetics. After reapplying her foundation, she finally feltmore herself.

Once satisfied with her appearance, she returned the cosmetics to Elsa and thanked her sincerely.

Under normal circumstances, Heather would have opted to go home after such an incident to collecther thoughts in solitude. However, today was a special day. It was Alex’s wedding day, and she hopedthis event might give her a chance to win him back.

“You’re welcome,” Elsa responded with a smile.

She was about to leave, considering that the wedding was about to start and she had already spentquite a bit of time here.

“How do you know me? I don’t recall ever meeting you before,” Heather asked, noticing Elsa’s intent toleave.

Turning back, Elsa chuckled. “Ms. Jennings, you seem to have forgotten. We met over a year agowhen Alex was on television for thwarting a bank robbery. Back then, his phone wallpaper was yourpicture. That’s why you left quite an impression on me.”

“A year ago…” Heather’s mind drifted back to the memory. Alex had indeed been on television for hisheroic act and had even received a reward of ten million, which he had immediately donated.

Back then, she had been furious with him for his reckless generosity. Now, upon reflection, she sawthat Alex had never really needed that money. His willingness to donate it displayed his magnanimity. Why didn’t I see that back then? Why did I only blame him for that?

Elsa’s revelation that Alex had her picture as his wallpaper hit her hard. She realized she must haveoccupied a special place in his heart at that time. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have set her picture as hiswallpaper.

Her current predicament was of her own making. It was due to her constant mistrust and the hurt shehad caused him. She had even fallen for another man.novelbin

If the chairman of Four Seas Corporation was not Alex, she might have cheated not only mentally, butalso physically.

A pang of guilt toward Alex suddenly pricked at Heather’s heart, but she was quick to dismiss it.

If Alex had been upfront about his identity and had publicly announced his wealth from the beginning.perhaps they might not have ended in divorce.

Isn’t honesty the foundation of any marital relationship? If Alex himself couldn’t uphold it, then I’ll surelybe forgiven for my misconceptions about him.

“Ms. Jennings, what’s on your mind? If you’ll excuse me, I should be heading to the wedding.” Elsainterjected when she noticed that Heather was still lost in her thoughts.

Heather snapped back to reality and managed to put on a smile on her face. She extended her handand. asked, “Thank you for saving me. Can we be friends?”

Elsa also reached out to shake hands with Heather. The idea of befriending the ex-wife of a man shedeeply admired was rather peculiar.

Yet, she didn’t refuse. Together, they headed toward the castle.
