Chapter 897

Chapter 897 I Love You Too

Inside the hotel, Maggie stood on the balcony, crying silently while staring out the window. Her eyeswere so swollen that they resembled peaches.

She was just as worried as she was yesterday about Alex’s safety. I hope Aler will return alive like lasttime.

It was then the door opened. Stanley was heard shouting enthusiastically outside the room. “Daddy, you’re back! I missed you!”

When Maggie heard that, a joyous expression settled on her countenance. Upon wiping her tearsaway. she sprinted toward the exit and began crying again when she saw that Alex was indeed safeand sound.

Without delay, she hugged him tightly and wailed.

She used to only think of Alex as an excellent man worthy of her in the past. However, after spendingtime with him, she realized she had hopelessly fallen in love with him, so much so that she regardedhim as her whole world.

“I love you, Alex. I love you so, so much. Please let me stay by your side next time you’re in danger. Idon’t care if we die as long as I remain beside you,” said Maggie between sobs, her tone filled withdetermination.

Her sincere words melted Alex’s heart. Moved beyond words, he tightened his arms around her.Maggie’s unconditional love for him was so strong it almost engulfed him whole, and as he gazed at thebawling woman before him, he swore to himself that he would love and protect her with his life.

“I love you, too. Once we return home, let’s hold a grand wedding!” said Alex firmly.

Maggie cried even harder at that. This feels like a dream too good to be true. I’m finally going to marryAlex and become his wife. It seems like all the foolish things I did in the past were worthwhile.

“Why are you crying so hard, Ms. Grant? Did someone bully you? I’ll help avenge you!” uttered Stanleyfiercely as he clenched his fists.

In the little boy’s eyes, his father only left to take care of a matter, so he didn’t think it was somethingworth crying. That was why he thought Maggie was crying for another reason.

Standing on her tiptoes, Maggie planted a kiss on Alex’s face before reluctantly letting him go. Then, she squatted in front of Stanley and explained, “No one bullied me, Stanley. I was just crying tears ofjoy.”

However, that didn’t dispel Stanley’s confusion. From a child’s perspective, happiness was associatedwith smiles while sadness with tears.

Puzzled, Stanley scratched his head. “Adults are so weird! I don’t get it.”

Maggie kissed his chubby cheek and beamed. “When you grow up and meet someone you love dearly, you’ll understand why I was so happy that I cried.”

When night fell, the three of them slept on a big bed with Stanley in the middle. Maggie and Alex tookturns telling him stories.

Meanwhile, a certain family in Nebula City had a sleepless night. The Jenningses were anxious andpanicking over the one hundred million.

They had two days left to gather the money. If they failed, Lucas would be captured by the people fromthe casino. Should that happen, his life might be in danger.

“Heather, your brother is our family’s only male descendant! You can’t just sit by and watch your brotherdie at such a young age!” Carmen grabbed Heather’s hand.

Upon shoving Carmen’s hand away, Heather tousled her hair in frustration without caring about herimage. While others can consider their home a safe haven, I can’t. My family, on the contrary, hasbrought me nothing but trouble after Alex left. They expect me to handle everything. I don’t think I cando this anymore.

“Are you trying to pressure me to death, Mom? Why should I clean up the messes you all made? All ofyou should be responsible for your actions. This wouldn’t have happened if you had listened to what Isaid. You still won’t get anywhere near one hundred million even if you sell me off!” spat Heatherresolutely.

Carmen refused to give up. “Heather, call Alex. You two were married. I doubt he’ll do nothing andwatch you suffer.”novelbin
