Chapter 843 I Cannot Fall Asleep On My Own
After the divorce, Maggie had a clearer idea about what sort of relationship she wanted with Alex. Shewanted to win his heart during their trip together.
She would have an easier task if they were alone. With Stanley tagging along, however, she needed tocome up with a thorough plan.
When Stanley was fast asleep, Maggie took the opportunity and asked, “Alex, when do you plan tomarry
me?”
Alex was stunned for a few seconds. I never thought about that. I like Maggie, but I’ve only gottendivorced recently. If I were to marry her anytime soon, wouldn’t that seem too hasty?
After mulling over it for a while, he answered, “We’ll see! I need to take some time to clear my mindfirst. After all, the divorce affected Stanley greatly. I’ll only plan to get married once he has accepted thedivorce.”
Maggie went silent upon hearing that. She cast a glance at Stanley, who was sleeping soundly, andmade a decision there and then. As long as I can be with Alex, I’ll treat Stanley as my own, regardlessof whether Alex and I will have kids together.
“I don’t mind waiting for you because I’m determined to marry you. I want to marry you and no one.else!” Maggie said firmly and threw Alex a serious look.
Alex flashed a smile, albeit a bitter one. Those were the words I said to Heather back then. I told her Iwanted to marry no one else but her and take care of her for the rest of my life. However, it turns outshe doesn’t need me
anymore.
Alex nodded in response and took out his cigarettes from his pocket. “I’m going out for a smoke.”
Alex stood up and left the room. The moment he lit up his cigarette, Maggie ran out of the room andtook away the cigarette in Alex’s hand.
“I wonder what’s so good about smoking. Despite knowing that it’s bad for health, everyone’s stillsmoking.” Maggie cast a glance at the cigarette in her hand and took a deep puff.
Maggie choked and couldn’t stop coughing. In fact, she felt so uncomfortable that she started tearingup.
The gloomy mood that loomed over Alex dissipated immediately when he saw Maggie coughingheavily. While he was laughing, he said, “Why would you take a puff if you didn’t know how to smoke?Quick! Give me back my cigarette!” He reached out to take the cigarette back.
Maggie looked at the cigarette, and instead of giving it back to Alex, she smiled and asked, “I’vealready taken a puff just now. Are you sure you still want it back?”
“Why not? It would be a waste to throw it away. Give it!” Alex replied nonchalantly. Although he was abillionaire, he still smoked his usual cigarettes, which cost twenty a pack.
Maggie hummed meaningfully in response. In the next second, she leaned in and kissed him on thelips. Alex didn’t see that coming, so he didn’t even try to avoid her.
