Alex’s secretary, Liana seductively walked towards them.
“Mr. Jefferson, I made some soup for you. I’ve boiled it since I got off from work, and it took me almosttwo hours! I heard that you’ll be here and I want to give it to you personally.” Liana showed him athermos flask.
As she got closer to Alex, only then did she notice Carlene who was beside him.

While he got into the driver’s seat, Carlene hopped into the passenger seat.
Liana was jealous of the two. She was not willing to concede defeat. Without asking, she entered thebackseat of the car.
She shamelessly asked, “Mr. Jefferson, I’ve been busy preparing the soup for you. So, I have yet tohave my dinner. Can I join you guys?”
Alex could not bring himself to reject her request. Since she wanted to join, it would be unreasonable tochase her out of the car.
Carlene, who was seated at the passenger seat was displeased. Her chest began heaving rapidly,clearly

The waiter approached them and asked politely, “Welcome to our restaurant. May I take your order,please?”
Soon after, the waiter left after taking their orders, leaving the three of them alone.
Carlene broke the ice and uttered, “Mr. Jefferson, thank you for giving me the opportunity. I did notexpect you to reward me with five million!”
Carlene looked at Liana scornfully. She taunted Liana on purpose, to send her message.
Liana was obviously affected by her statement. Her eyes were filled with jealousy and discontent.
“It’s just five million. All you have to do is focus on work,” Alex nonchalantly replied. Indeed, five millionwas considered peanuts to him.
Liana found an opportunity to undermine and humiliate Carlene. “That’s a given. Although the sum isinsignificant to Mr. Jefferson, you might think differently of it, Ms. Bolton. I’m not sure what’s yourulterior motive for inviting Mr. Jefferson to dinner.”
