Chapter 626 Kneeling Before Heather
There’s no reason to be stubborn now that I’ve been given a chance to go back to the company. Afterall, granny did show her sincerity by coming here to apologize personally to me. With that thought,Heather decided to inquire, “If I were to return to Jennings, what position will I be assigned?”
“Someone as capable as you should be the deputy general manager, of course! You will be fully incharge of our daily operations, answered Demi excitedly before exchanging looks with Brian. The twohad already agreed that they would temporarily appoint that position to Heather so that she could solvetheir corporate issue for them. After she had served her purpose, they would sack her once againwithout at second thought.
Standing just beside Heather, Carmen narrowed her eyes when she sensed something off about thetwo visitors. She found it hard to believe that Demi would ever humble herself to ask Heather to workfor the company, much less assign her daughter such an important position. On top of that, it was nosecret that Demi had always sided with Brian and his family.
Just when Heather was about to take Demi up on the offer, Carmen quickly stopped her daughter andlooked daggers at her visitors. “Only a fool would believe you. Didn’t you say that the company was introuble? What kind of trouble, exactly?”
“It’s…” Demi never expected Carmen to see through her tricks. Embarrassed, she quickly changed herstrategy and pretended to cry pitifully.
“I know I look desperate, but I really am out of options. Nothing pains me more than to think that I’m theone responsible for the end of Jennings. You’re our only hope, Heather. Only you can persuade thechairman of Four Seas Corporation to help save our company.”
Sighing, Brian then decided to play along. “I know we’ve had our differences, Heather. But you’re aJenningses; you’re one of us. Can you really sit by and do nothing while our company burns?”
Heather lowered her head as she tried to figure out what to do next. She was hesitant to extend herhelping hand after what her grandmother had done and how the elderly woman had repeatedlydisappointed her.
While Heather was still struggling internally, Carmen leaped to her feet and rebuked the other twoJenningses. “I knew nothing good could come out of you two! You only wanted Heather to forgive youbecause you needed her help. Well, let me remind you then. Jennings Corporation has nothing to dowith us. You made sure of that when you drove us out of the family. It’s funny, isn’t it? Did it not occur toyou then that you would need Heather’s help someday in the future? You lot deserve to see yourcompany fall.” With that, Carmen scoffed condescendingly at the two and started shoving them towardthe door.
Seeing how Carmen was about to close the door on her, Demi immediately got down on her knees andbegged, “Heather, please! I’m begging you! Is this not enough? Please save our company! I won’tleave until you agree to help us.”
