“Alex, my good nephew, I was wrong to take out my frustrations on you. Can you forgive me for that?”Gabriel apologized quickly upon seeing Alex’s pettiness.
He and his son were the ones managing the company over the past few years. Although the companydid not make any profits and even incurred losses within that period of time, Gabriel was still reluctantto let go of the power that came with his position.
Even as he spoke, Gabriel tugged at his son hastily. A look of sudden understanding passed acrossDelmont’s face. He immediately smiled at Alex apologetically. “Alex, I was being an idiot just now.You’re obviously meant to accomplish greater things, so I hope you won’t hold any grudge against me.If you’ll just let us manage the company, I promise you we’ll lead the company properly and get it backwhere it belongs at the top.”
Alex shot a disdainful glance at his cousin. “You’ve already said it yourself, Delmont. You’re an idiot.How am I supposed to trust you any longer? If I put Morton Corporation into the hands of an idiot,wouldn’t that make me the bigger fool?”
“Don’t cross the line,” Delmont warned, his smile froze on his face stiffly. Alex’s words cut deep into hisfeelings.
However, both father and son knew that they were the ones who had crossed the line first. No onecould blame Alex for being so angry.
On the other hand, Reine was extremely touched by Alex’s gesture. He invested five billion in MortonCorporation and was willing to forfeit his rightful dividends, all just to help her become the executive
director of the company.
Reine stared at Alex, feeling a storm of emotions churn turbulently in her chest. She had always had asoft spot for Alex at the very bottom of her heart, and today, Alex touched it deeply.
“Please think over it carefully, Grandpa. I’m needed back at my company, so I’ll be returning to NebulaCity now. When you’ve made your decision, you can call me or see me at the Four Seas Corporation inNebula City,” Alex said simply. He handed his name card to Reine, who was still slightly dazed, beforeturning to leave.
Alex really wanted to help the Mortons, but Gabriel and Delmont’s attitudes disgusted him deeply.Despite everything else, Alex was still a dignified man with a temper to match. If his grandparents didnot accept his terms, then he would not help the Mortons.
“Alex! There’s nothing to consider–I accept your terms,” Hugo shouted hurriedly when he saw Alexleaving.
Hugo made up his mind quickly. Alex’s only condition was easy to cater to, especially when Alex wasbasically giving their family five billion for free. Hugo would be a hopeless fool if he still insisted onshowing a preference for Gabriel and his son now.
Besides, Hugo would hurt Alex’s feelings if he did anything else. No matter what happened, Alex wasstill his grandson.
He would not be a good grandfather if he insisted on turning down Alex’s goodwill. His grandson wastrying to give them five billion just to help their family. How could he reject such a generous offer?

Alex nodded in satisfaction. He faced Hugo and said, “I hope you’ll give Reine a chance, Grandpa. Ifshe still doesn’t do as well as Uncle Gabriel or Delmont after three years, then let Uncle Gabriel and hisfamily continue to managing the company.”
“But of course,” Alex continued pleasantly, “I’m going to be upfront about this. In these three years, Iwon’t tolerate anyone singling Reine out or purposefully causing problems to prevent her frommanaging the company adequately. If that happens, I’ll enforce my rights as a major shareholder in thiscompany.”
Hugo smiled. “You can rest assured, Alex. Even your uncle won’t dare to cause any problems to Reinewith me watching.”
Alex nodded before asking Reine for her bank account number. He proceeded to transfer the five billionto her account on the spot.
Seeing that Alex had no plan to transfer the money directly to the company account, the Mortons couldonly agree with his actions readily.
On the other hand, Gabriel and his son were practically going out of their minds with regret.
If they knew earlier that this would happen, they would have insulted Alex. They would have kept theirgrievances to themselves without making a single complaint.
Following that, Alex signed a simple agreement with the Morton family. He promised to send a lawyerwith a full contract, in a few days.
After having lunch with his grandparents, Alex returned to the Grant family home. Maggie was stillwaiting for him to return to Nebula City together.
