The second floor was incredibly spacious. Everybody entered an ornate–looking room, where a frail, old man was lying in a rosewood bed with elaborate carvings. He appeared to be on the verge ofdeath.

The old man was deathly pale, his skin already ashen and lifeless. His brows were furrowed tightly, signaling the severity of the pain he was experiencing.

Tyrael took one quick survey and announced, “He is in grave condition. Please allow me and mygranddaughter to heal him.”

Louis nodded swiftly, “Dr. Skyworth, please act immediately!”

Tyrael nodded towards Louis in response. Studying Richard’s condition once again, he started relayingorders to Auriel.

Auriel took out a silver needle from the medical box. After sterilizing it, she deftly injected the needleinto the acupuncture point indicated by her grandfather.

The Grant family watched quietly as Auriel carried out treatment using the silver needles on theirgrandfather.

Alex, too, was observing Auriel with interest. He was rather taken aback by how steady and competentAuriel’s skills were.

Auriel was very good with the needles and her skills had surpassed most experienced doctors in termsof competency and composure. It was no wonder the Grant family were willing to let her treat their

grandfather, despite her young age.

Auriel completed the acupuncture procedure efficiently. She was beautiful. However, it wasn’t all justoutward appearances, for she had a regal aura that comes from within. The self–confidence she hadwas remarkable.

Alex admired Auriel’s needlework and he realized that she had learned the ability to use her MortalForce on the needle to its full potential. This was truly a rare skill to master.

The reason most doctors were unable to fully master this skill was related to the fact that they don’tknow martial art.

In today’s society, martial arts were facing the risk of becoming obsolete. Those who were training inmartial arts were due to family tradition or based on genuine interest. Either way, there weren’t manypeople learning martial arts now.

Moreover, where could ordinary folks go to learn martial arts?

For example, enrolling in martial arts schools was not easy for ordinary people.

Despite being impressed, Alex could still see that Auriel was a novice in this particular technique. Hecould tell she wasn’t able to use the needle to its maximum potential.

Now that was the most crucial step.

In order to achieve the desired outcome, one had to transfer Mortal Force through the needles into thepatient’s body.

Half an hour later, the acupuncture procedure was complete. The Grant family invited the two doctorsto

have some tea and rest. “Divine physicians, you have worked hard. Now please, enjoy your cup of tea.”

A woman handed two cups of tea to Tyrael and Auriel as the middle–aged man was talking.

As for Alex, he was unanimously ignored by the whole Grant family.

Tyrael and Auriel were legitimately exhausted. Acupuncture could be very tiring work. This wasespecially true for Auriel, who had sweat beading on her forehead by the time she was done, for herMortal Force was still feeble.

As the two of them brought their teacups to their lips and sipped, everybody else was observingRichard. His previously pale face had gained some color, and his complexion seemed to look muchbetter.

The Grant family was ecstatic. Dr. Skyworth is truly a divine physician!

Even Maggie was absolutely delighted with the turn of events. Her eyes glimmered with admirationwhen she looked at Tyrael and Auriel.

Just then, Auriel glared at Alex provokingly as she sneered. I, Auriel Skyworth, am a true divinephysician! As for you, why are you here to humiliate yourself?

Noticing Auriel’s goading stare, Alex merely smiled at her but didn’t bother to respond.

He was impressed with Auriel’s achievements, as they were quite remarkable considering her age. However, it was just the work of a novice.

The Nine Heaven Scrolls was an ancient literary text. Martial arts, geomancy, and alchemy were allincluded within. Anybody with above–average skills could master them in no time. And so, the skillsdisplayed by Tyrael and Auriel were pretty ordinary in Alex’s eyes.

Sure, their feats would look impressive to ordinary people, but for a master like him? That was merelychild’s play.

But Alex didn’t bother to pick a fight with Auriel. Instead, he turned his head to look at Richard. What hesaw made his brows furrow slightly.

Richard did seem to have improved after Auriel’s acupuncture treatment. However, that was only onthe surface.

As Alex studied further, he noted Richard’s old illness was still unhealed. It appeared his arteries weredeteriorating, and he was suffering from blood deficiency. As a result, his organs were slowly givingway. Auriel had only treated the symptoms and not the root cause.

Richard might have a healthier complexion now, so it seemed like things had turned for the better. Thetruth was his condition would worsen again in a couple of days. The moment it relapsed that would bethe end, for even God wouldn’t be able to save him then.

It seemed like even the so–called divine physician could only extend Richard’s life by one or two days, atnovelbin

most,

“Don’t be too happy just yet. Richard’s sickness is only temporarily healed. His condition will definitelyrelapse In two days. When that happens his blood vessels will burst. By then, even God wouldn’t beable to save him.” After deliberating for some time, Alex decided it was best to speak up.

As soon as his words fell, everybody’s gaze shot towards him and their eyes filled with consternationand anger.
