Chapter 411 The Contempt Of The Grant Family

+5 Bonus

The Grant family had hired several doctors over the past few weeks to treat their grandfather. However, most of them left in vain, unable to figure out his condition.

Currently, Louis’s biggest contender for the head of the family title was Maggie. As a result, he sawAlex as another enemy getting in his way.

Maggie frowned and said, “Louis, Alex is really skilled. One time, when my luck was really bad to thepoint that I nearly lost my life, Mr. Jefferson helped me alter my fortune. After that, my life is now sailingsmoothly again! I can assure you, Mr. Jefferson’s powers are truly godlike!”

Louis snorted derisively. “Maggie, my little cousin, what grandpa needs right now is a miracle doctor, not a bloody fraud! These so–called geomancers pretend to be so powerful when they are just conartists. Pff, only naive fools could be duped by them!”

His words were a double–edged sword. Hearing what he was implying, Maggie’s expression grewunpleasant.

On one hand, Louis was suggesting that Alex was a fraud. On the other hand, he was insinuatingMaggie was naive, too unfit to be in line as the future head of the family.

Maggie could read between the lines easily. Regardless, she tried to advise him, saying, “Louis, even ifyou don’t believe in such things, you shouldn’t be irreverent either.”

Louis snorted, “Reverence? Surely that depends on who it is first? I, Louis Grant, have only everrespected honest, honorable men. As for these phonies who dabble in pseudoscience like him willnever deserve my attention, let alone my respect.”

Then, he gestured towards the elderly figure beside him, a smug look on his face. “This isLumenopolis’s divine physician, Tyrael Skyworth, and his granddaughter, Auriel Skyworth.”

Alex looked over at the pair; one was old, one was young. Yup, they are definitely a grandfather and hisgranddaughter.

They both seemed to be dressed peculiarly.

The elderly man looked to be over sixty. Dressed in a green robe and wearing a pair of dignifiedreading glasses, the man had formidable eyebrows and a long, white mustache. It was obvious he wasa martial arts

expert.

On the other hand, the girl standing by his side was a young lady about eighteen or nineteen years old.She was dressed in a loosely fitted cheongsam. Her hair was in a short bob, with fringe that framed herpair of lovely, inquisitive eyes. She gave off a mysterious, sophisticated aura.

Her face, however, drew Alex’s eyes the most.

Maggie was lovely too, but this young lady had a beauty that rivaled Maggie’s.

Furthermore, in comparison with Maggie, who could be described as a ballbuster, this young lady’sgaze seemed to be sharper and haughtier. This was not a woman you could approach easily.

Noticing Alex’s survey, Tyrael acknowledged him with a nod. Conversely, Auriel didn’t even bother tolook at him, emitting a sense of icy arrogance.

At this instant, Louis looked at Maggie smugly, saying, “Little cousin Maggie, I see the man you hiredhas

to be around twenty–four, twenty–five years old? I bet he doesn’t even comprehend the five elements,Yin and Yang, etc. fully yet. How can he call himself a master? If outsiders heard that our family hashired a geomancer to treat our grandfather, we will become the laughingstock of Lumenopolis! Indeed,we would be laughed at as blind fools!”

His words were filled with toxic barbs, all directed towards Alex, who was beginning to feel displeased.

Nevertheless, he didn’t lose his temper. After all, Louis was an ignorant fool. He wasn’t going to lowerhimself down to Louis’s standards.

Maggie’s face was flushed red with anger. Nevertheless, Louis ignored her completely and turnedtowards Tyrael Skyworth, “My apologies, Dr. Skyworth. My cousin sister is still young and foolish.Because of that, she has made an embarrassment of herself.”

Observing the placid expression on Alex’s face, Tyrael Skyworth turned his gaze from Alex and said,“Youth does not equal incompetence. My granddaughter here is only eighteen, but she has alreadymastered seventy percent of the arts of ancient medicine. In time, I have no doubt that she, too, willbecome a skillful doctor. I don’t think you should be so hasty to doubt Alex’s ability.”

Listening to his wise remarks, Alex couldn’t help but feel impressed.
