“Chairman, are you on the way?” Heather probed.
Smiling mockingly, Alex put up a hoarse voice. “Oh! I’m so sorry. I completely forget about ourappointment. I’m afraid we have to cancel this today since I’ve already reached home.”
There was no way Alex would attend that date today since he had intended to ditch Heather from the
start.
“Oh? I see. Then we shall meet next time.” Although Heather was displeased, she still tried her best tosound cheery.
“Sure. I have something to do now. I’ll hang up first.”
Heather felt dejected when the ‘chairman‘ hung up on her.
Although she made the first move to ask a man out and was stood up by him, she didn’t dare to getmad at the man. Instead, she found herself finding excuses for him. How ironic!
In the end, she asked the waitress to serve dinner.
