Chapter 1242 Let Kate Go
Before this, Alex thought that Kate had merely slapped Heather. Yet, Heather had lay on the ground fora long time without getting up. Now, he finally noticed that her skin had started. to turn a little greenish.
Clearly, this wasn’t caused by a mere slap. Kate must have done something to her.
Flynn, who stood below the stage, felt that the situation was getting out of hand. If it continued like this,it would spiral out of control, and innocent people might get hurt. Therefore, he instructed his people todisperse everyone who attended the wedding.
Alex helped Heather up from the ground and realized that she was out of her senses and herconsciousness was blurred.
“What have you done to her? Why did you have to involve her in our affairs?” Alex glared at Kate, hisvoice as cold as ice as he questioned her.
Never in Alex’s life had he despised someone to such an extent. Kate was the first person he had trulydetested from the bottom of his heart.
“Our matters have nothing to do with her? Are you kidding me, Alex? Am I even a match for you at mycurrent level? I might be dead by now if I hadn’t acted against her,” Kate said with. a cold laugh.
If it weren’t for Heather rushing up to her, pulling and hitting her, Kate would never think of placing apoisonous insect on her. To Kate, all of this was brought upon by Heather herself.
“Let me go, or I swear I’ll make Heather die right now. I will kill her before I die,” Kate threatened.
Alex looked at Kate. He had always harbored deep resentment toward her. However, now, he wascompletely helpless against her.
Heather was innocent, and it wouldn’t make sense for her to die over his conflicts with Kate. Besides,Stanley was the only reason she rushed up the stage.
At the very least, Heather was far better than Kate in one aspect. It was her genuine affection forStanley. She would not tolerate anyone harming her child.
“Give me the antidote, and I will let you go,” Alex said.
“What do you take me for? A fool? I can never escape if I hand over the antidote to you now. If youcare about this woman, let me leave now. Otherwise, trust me, I’ll kill her right now.”

Sure enough, Alex finally gave in, saying helplessly, “I agree to let you go, but how do you. plan to giveme the antidote? What if I let you go, but Heather still dies?”
“I’ll call you to explain how to make the antidote. You should find me a car now. I want to leaveimmediately,” Kate ordered Alex.
Alex waved his hand, and Flynn immediately understood, arranging for a car to be brought over. Katedidn’t hesitate and got right in. Quickly, she started the car engine and drove away.
“So you’re going to let her go just like that? She once treated Stanley so poorly! If she were here, Iwould have torn her apart, making her regret ever bullying my son.” Flynn was not. satisfied with Alex’sdecision.
In truth, he didn’t want to let Kate go too. After all, she still had Insect Codex in her hands. He had seenits contents and knew how many innocent lives would be taken by cultivating. such dark skill.
With a sigh of resignation, Alex said, “I don’t want to let her go either, but Heather is
innocent. If she dies, both Stanley and Emma will lose their mother. That would be too cruel. Once Ifind the antidote for Heather, I will search thoroughly to find Kate. I absolutely won’t let her continue herwrongdoings.”
Flynn patted Alex on the shoulder, understanding his helplessness in this situation. He comforted thelatter, saying, “Don’t overthink it. It’s good that you saw Kate’s true colors before the wedding. Justthinking about marrying such an evil woman gives me chills on your behalf.”
At this point, Alex felt somewhat relieved. He was glad that he had discovered what Kate had doneearly on. If he hadn’t overheard Maria’s mutterings today, he would have married Kate. As for Stanley,he would have continued to suffer her mistreatment and might have even lost. his life.
In a year, two weddings were held, and both failed. Alex was filled with a sense of helplessness. Hewondered if he was truly not meant to get married.
It was as if Flynn could read what was on Alex’s mind, so he comforted the latter, “Alex, I’ll be honest! Ithink Maggie suits you the best out of all the women you know.”
Just then, someone barged in. It was none other than Zack. Despite his hefty size from eating. well, hewas surprisingly a fast runner. By the time he arrived, he was already panting heavily.
Once he gathered himself, he turned to look at Alex anxiously and said, “Mr. Jefferson, you must goand take a look. Mr. Zachary has been injured, and Stanley has been taken away.”
