CHAPTER 24
Selena then went to her room. She put the chocolate bar on table with a slam, paced back and forth fora few minutes. Determination took over her. She then locked the door and took off her dress, doubtingher will power all the while. Before she could move to the window, a knock on the door send her totremble for a moment. She wrapped a blanket around her chest and opened the door slightly. Zadenwas there, as usual leaning on the door. His eye widened at the site of Selena wrapped in a blanket,messy hair, her shoulder reflecting beam of moonlight and her prominent collarbone making Zadensalivate.
“Zaden, I need a minute, please…” he nodded in panic and she closed the door. He turned around andcrashed his body backwards to a nearby wall, exhaling a deep breath which he didn’t notice he washolding. Selena wore back her V-neck white t-shirt and long floral chiffon skirt before she zoomed toopen the door. Once its open, she moved to side and stretched her hand inwards, as if inviting him in.
“What were you doing?” he asked
“Orion gave me homework” she said.
He smiled and walked into the room. Selena, on the other hand, turned around to walk out of the roomwhen she heard a low voice and a warm grip on her wrist.
“Wait…” Selena turned around, slightly surprised
“You are leaving?” Zaden asked with a frown
“Ya, it’s a single bed. You can’t share it and expect to be well rested, can you? Lesson number one,always get enough sleep” she pointed her fingers at him.” She smiled and turned around. Zadendesperately need her to stay and so he blurted out the next words and regret it, the next second itself
“Don’t you have any questions?” she stopped and turned around with a grin.
“Just one” Zaden rolled his eye. When have she ever stopped with just one question?. With that, shewalked into the room, grabbing the chocolate bar, straight to windowsill and jumped up to sit there,swaying her legs. She unwrapped the chocolate and took a bite. Zaden thrust his hands into his pocketas he walked to stand in front of her
“Where did you get that from?” he asked
“Orion gave it to me” she broke a small piece of chocolate and feed it to Zaden. He smacked his lips,sucking down the piece of chocolate
“So generous…” he mocked and Selena scowled playfully at him
“Go on…what is your question?” Zaden
“Your father…I have never seen him. Where is he?” Selena
Zaden climbed up the windowsill next to her “He is at the third village, the furthest from us. My momtravels from that village to here, once in a while to visit me. We formed our own…sort of militarysystem. The mountains acts like a fort. Anyone coming must cross this village first, where the leader’spack is situated. We will be taking the first hit, so to say and I can send message to my father andbrother immediately after being hit, so that they will be prepared” Zaden explained
“You have a brother?” she sounded excited
“Yes, younger brother, Zeus” Selena nodded
“The second village is where most fighters are situated. Its surrounded by water bodies and thickerforest, making it very hard to cross over. The third village, where my parents, scholars, elderlies andgifted werewolves are placed. We need them if we ever need to restart from scratch. It takes days fornovelbin
even me to get to them, we need to ask triple permission and then cross over. Moreover, we try not togo there often and expose them.” Selena nodded
“Hey, I need to ask you something” It was Zaden this time and she nudged her head, signaling him tocarry on
“What is your actual hair color?” she stiffened with a wide eye
“What? Black, why?” her face was evidently hiding something and it caught Zaden’s eye. He slide offthe windowsill, stood in front of her with his arms by her side, forming a cage
“My hair is black and my wolf is black. I have a chocolate eye with gold rim. When I shift to wolf, thegold rim engulfs chocolate forming gold eye with chocolate rim. Same goes for everyone here exceptfor Makeala because she got her hair colored. Her actual hair she was born with is burgundy. Youreyes are grey with black rim and your wolf has pitch black eyes with silver rim but your hair is black andyour wolf is silver. Something doesn’t add up. So, my dear baby girl, what are you hiding from me?” heslowly came closer to her as he spoke, nose to nose with Selena. One of his hand came up, cuppingher neck. He tilted his head slightly, licking his lips. She froze in his touch and didn’t attempt to moveaway. At that moment, she felt a burning desire between her chest for his lips, as betraying butterfliesfluttered from her lower stomach.
“What do you want in exchange for your secret?” he whispered as his eyes flickered between her lipsand her eye
“You don’t bribe the master of bribery, alpha Zaden” she whispered and pressed her palm on his chest,pushing him away. He stalled behind limply, weakened by her delicate touch. Selena jumped down thewindowsill and walked to door. Zaden was still in her way, she pushed him again and this time hechuckled. She repeated until he hit the wall next to door. She turned the door knob and opened thedoor.
“Do you have to go?” his head is now leaned back to the wall with a gentle smile on his face. His eyewere begging her to stay. Selena bit her lips with a smile and proceed to walk out of there as fast asshe could, in attempt to hide her blushing cheek.
She closed the door of Zaden’s room behind her and slide down the door to sit on the floor, still smilingto her self
