Her voice was full of apology, and Lizetta turned her head with a smile.

"It's alright, Ms. West, it's just that your perfume and makeup are a bit strong for me. I've been sensitiveto strong scents since I got pregnant, nothing more." Stella's smile stiffened a bit, and she instinctivelytouched her face.

She was quite a bit older than Lizetta, and the years hadn't been kind. Her skin wasn't as firm, whichnaturally led to a heavier makeup application.

Looking at Lizetta's makeup-free, porcelain-smooth, and radiant face, Stella felt a bit uncomfortablethat a shadow passed over her eyes.

She managed an awkward smile, and turned to Remington for some support.

But Remington wasn't looking at her. Instead, he instructed the driver, "Turn on the car's air recyclingsystem."

The driver immediately acknowledged, and Stella's awkward smile completely froze.

"Stella, she's just more sensitive during her pregnancy. Don't take it to heart," Remington said as hewrapped an arm around Lizetta, finally turning towards Stella. Stella quickly shook her head with asmile, "I'm just jealous of Liz, having such a considerate and thoughtful husband like you. How could Imind?"

The air was thick with unspoken words.

But it seemed lost on Remington. He tightened his embrace around Lizetta, letting her lean into him,and asked, "Feeling alright?"

He genuinely thought she was bothered by the scent of perfume and makeup. Lizetta was speechless.

Finding the situation pointless, she closed her eyes, saying, "I'll take a nap."

"Alright, sleep well," Remington responded, pulling her closer. He fetched a blanket to cover her, gentlysorted her hair, and softly massaged her arm.

His focus was entirely on his wife, seemingly forgetting there was another person beside them.

Stella watched this scene, clenching her fists tightly.

She had been in touch with Remington every day lately, subtly trying to get closer to him.

Remington was nice to her, hardly ever refusing her requests, but it went no further.

When she had a fever in the middle

of the night and called him, mentioning Martin was at the

et

hospital with her mother and asking him to come over, all she got was a visit from Remington's familydoctor.

Clearly, with Lizetta around, Remington wouldn't notice her.

Realizing this, Stella had agreed tonovelbin

Remington's affection and

Lizetta's suggestion. Now, the

tenderness towards Lizetta only solidified her decision. Lizetta had to go. sŵnovel.net

And not just leave, but Stella had to ensure Lizetta could never return!

Now, Stella was worried that Lizetta might change her mind, caught in Remington's loving trap, andrefuse to leave.

"Remington, I heard Liz is performing tomorrow. Can I come watch?" Stella asked, her face filled withhope and longing.

Remington instinctively touched his lips, signaling Stella to keep quiet so as not to disturb Lizetta.

Meeting Stella's slightly dimmed gaze and remembering how she used to dance and perform as achild, he nodded softly, "I'll have someone send you an invitation." Stella immediately smiled.

Lizetta hadn't really fallen asleep. Hearing their quiet conversation, she suddenly regretted invitingtrouble.

But the dance performance was her

smokescreen for leaving Zion City.

She needed Remington to believe she was fully committed to the dance troupe, busy with the

upcoming shows for the next three months, so he would lower his guard.

With that thought, Lizetta let it go, and before long, she indeed drifted off to sleep.
