Her eyes blazed with fury, while the man forcefully gripped her chin with his other hand.

"Lizetta, don't forget, your brother's still laid up in the hospital. Once we're divorced, I'm under noobligation to take care of him, let alone pay a fortune for his medical team." Lizetta hadn't expected himto use her brother as leverage at a time like this.

Her brother had only recently started responding well to a new treatment, and clearly, Remington hadcalculated that Lizetta wouldn't give up now.

Gasping for breath, Lizetta managed, "I can cover the medical team's expenses."

"Think I need your money, Lizetta? This isn't about choice! Get in the car; we're going home!"

"Despicable!"

How could she comply? She lowered her head and bit down hard on Remington's finger. She didn'thold back, channeling all her strength, fury driving her to nearly sever his finger.

The taste of blood spread in her mouth, but Remington didn't flinch. The man sneered, "I've alwaysbeen ruthless, just never towards you before! Lizetta, if you don't want your brother to lose his lasthope, get in the car!"

Yet, Lizetta lifted her head, pushing Remington away and stepping back.novelbin

Wiping the blood from her lips, she retorted, "Remington, if my brother knew you were using him tothreaten me, he wouldn't want me to submit because of him!" Today, she was determined to divorce.

She could always plead with Fiona about her brother's situation later; Lizetta believed she wouldn't turna blind eye.

Remington hadn't expected her to sacrifice her brother's treatment over a divorce. Redness flashed inhis eyes, his knuckles cracking with tension.

Lizetta pulled out her phone, her hands trembling as she made a call. She was calling Miranda, theagent she had worked with before when she sold her song rights. "Miranda, did you hear about Mr.Dashiell's grand wedding at the Starlight Group today?"

"Of course, but they didn't invite the media, heard it was a low-key affair. Don't even know who thelucky bride is. Why, you got news?"

Indeed, with the wedding turning into a disaster, there wasn't a whisper of it online. Remington'sinfluence was something Lizetta had to acknowledge.

"I'm the bride, But Remington and I have been secretly married for over two years. The wedding fellthrough today, and we're getting a divorce Now, that's big news. If Miranda, you have media contactswho want this scoop, they better hurry."

After speaking her piece, Lizetta hung up without waiting for the gobsmacked Miranda to respond.

Remington, sitting in the car, had overheard the entire conversation His face darkened to the extreme. The usually composed man finally broke his facade, stepping out of the car.

"Lizetta, well played!"

"Mr. Dashiell, kdon't even know what I'll tell the media when they arrive. If you want the StarlightGroup's stocks toplummet and those you protect like Ms. West and Ms. Hawthorne, to be labeled ashomewreckers, by all means, keep this up."

Threats weren't only his to wield.

Remington, facing her resolute stance, felt a pang in his heart.

"Huh, surely the domestic cat hurts people the most when it attacks! But there's nothing I want that Ican't have! Lizetta, you think I'll just let you talk to the media?"

As he spoke, he raised his hand, pressing it against the back of Lizetta's neck.

Lizetta stiffened, rage boiling in her eyes, "Remington, don't make me hate you!"

But Remington leaned closer, whispering in her ear, "Then hate me. From love to hate, at least itproves you loved me! Between us, there's no such thing as strangers!" Lizetta's pupils dilated in shock.

Suddenly, a pain shot through her neck as Remington pinched a spot, causing her to collapsebackward.

As she fell into unconsciousness, the snow-filled sky and Remington's fiery gaze were the last thingsshe saw. Fourteen years ago, he was an angel who saved her. Fourteen years later, he'd become adevil who imprisoned her.
