On the day of the wedding, the heavens seemed to frown upon them. The sky was a gloomy shade ofgray, heavy clouds billowing, creating a somber atmosphere. The wedding was set at the PlatinumFive-Star Hotel owned by the Dashiell Group.

Lizetta, adorned and waiting in the dressing room, noticed Remington was still absent.

"Take a sip of water; don't be nervous. I'll be right by your side," Yolanda, now in her pastel pinkbridesmaid dress, handed Lizetta a warm cup of water.

Lizetta took the cup but didn't drink, smiling at Yolanda instead, "I'm fine, really."

It seemed Yolanda was more nervous than Lizetta, who felt ready to face whatever came her way.

Just then, the door to the room swung open.

Lizetta looked over, and immediately stood up, smiling, "Camille, Lucian, you made it."

Lucian was decked out in a tailored white suit and a checkered tie, looking striking and refreshing, evenhis hair perfectly in place.

And in front of him, with a gentle demeanor, her hair elegantly bundled with only a simple jade pin, andwearing a purple gown that spoke volumes of her grace, was Mrs. Camille Dashiell, Lucian's mother."Liz, congratulations to you and Remington. I've also prepared an extra wedding gift for you."novelbin

Camille was kind and gentle, who liked Lizetta and always treated her warmly. She handed Lizetta avelvet jewelry box, which took Lizetta by surprise.

"Thank you, Camille. May I open it?"

"Of course."

Inside, Lizetta found a stunning stylish ruby necklace, its diamonds and rubies intertwined, with acascade of ruby tassels on one side.

"It's too precious, Camille," Lizetta was overwhelmed, attempting to close the box, only for Lucian togently stop her.

"Liz, you're being too modest. I couldn't find someone to get married, which you already know. Mom'sbeen saving her best jewelry for occasions that never came. Finally, she found this chance; don't denyher that."

Camille took Lizetta's hand, "I don't have any daughter, and I've always seen you as one, Liz. Do youthink I'm not fit to add to your trousseau?”

Feeling a warmth in her heart, Lizetta asked, "Would you put it on me, Camille?"

Delighted, Camille obliged.

The ruby necklace was breathtaking against Lizetta's wedding dress, with its long sleeves and squareneckline accentuating her slender shoulders and elegant neckline.

Once the necklace was placed on her neck, its tassels squarely dangling on the collarbones; the jewelagainst her skin was a sight to behold.

"You look so pretty. Remington is fortunate to marry you, Liz," Camille admired, gazing at Lizetta. Thelatter smiled, just as an unwelcome voice chimed in.

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Camille. Does Lizetta marrying Remington mean he's climbing socialladders? If you thought so highly of her, why didn't you ask Fiona to..."

It was Hanna and Shirley making their entrance, Hanna's tone as haughty as ever.

The matriarch had once favored Lizetta, even attempting to match her with Lucian, and Camille likedLizetta, too. However, after that night, bringing up such matters was inappropriate.

Hanna's insinuation was clear: she intended to embarrass Lizetta.

But Lizetta didn't let her finish. Stepping forward, she firmly said, "I'm ready for this. Your help isn'tneeded here. Please, wait in the reception hall."
