Hearing the word "stand-in" escape from the man's thin lips, Lizetta felt her nose twitched with asudden sourness.

Her lips quivered as she stared at Remington, and her voice was choked with emotion.

"That year, why did you bring me into the Dashiell family and why were you so kind to me when mybrother knelt at the doorstep of the Dashiell family with me on his back; was it because you werethinking of Stella?

The orange-flavored candy you gave me, was it because it was Stella's favorite candy?"

She had never wanted to confront the truth directly.

Because such truth was too cruel and unbearable for her.

It was something she didn't even want to face herself; she still wanted to retain some last bit of dignityand respect.

But she never expected Remington to be so detestable.

He had found Stella but still refused to let her go and divorce her.

Feeling her suppressed emotions burst out like a flood at that moment, Lizetta gave the accusationsthat were almost tearful.

Remington's face was gloomy; with his lips tightly sealed, he remained silent, maybe because histhoughts had been exposed.

His grip on her arm was very strong, as if he was showing that he had heard her, and he was notindifferent.

Even though his heart was not calm, he remained silent.

No rebuttal, no explanation.

Feeling utterly heartbroken, Lizetta managed a bitter smile that brought tears streaming down her face.

She thought she was too foolish; even at this moment, she still hoped that he would tell her it wasn't asshe thought.novelbin

"Say something! Have you got nothing to say?"

Lizetta struggled fiercely, but Remington didn't let go. With a strong pull, Lizetta fell into his arms; shewas held tightly against him.

Unable to break free, she started hitting him on the back.

"Let me go! Remington, I hate you! You're just a complete liar; you made me believe there wassomeone in this world who genuinely cared for me, but you just saw me as Stella's stand-in." Her tearsuncontrollably fell and quickly soaked through his black shirt.

Those burning wet tears seemed to flow straight into Remington's heart and soften his heart that hadbeen hard and cold; it was as if his heart had been broken open a large hole.

Some words he never wished to share with anyone else couldn't help but escape his tightly sealed lips, interrupting Lizetta.

"You're not a stand-in, you're not!"

His voice was extremely hoarse, right in Lizetta's ear; with that said, his gentle and consoling kisseslanded on her earlobe and neck.

Lizetta stiffened, then shook her head violently.

She pushed him away; her eyes were red and tearful as she stared at him.

"I don't believe you anymore; if I'm not a stand-in, how do you explain all that I've said. You've kept allof Stella's things so well, not even allowing me to touch them. You went looking for her, leaving mebehind, disregarding the dangers and getting hurt.

And the baby in Evelina's womb, do you really care about it just because it's Quinn's posthumouschild?

You didn't told me the truth last time, as you didn't even mention Stella; it's because you felt guilty, isn'tit?!"

Lizetta questioned, while stepping back with each word.

She wanted to get away from Remington, as she did not want to be deceived by him any longer.

Look at him; even when he was lying, he still looked so handsome, steady and reliable, with the charmto make people trust him and be moved by him. Utterly detestable.

She didn't realize she had backed up to the edge of the bed.

"Ah!"

Lizetta exclaimed as she missed a step and tilted sideways, about to fall off the bed.

Like a leopard, Remington moved swiftly, leaning forward to catch her and pull her back.
