Chapter 267

Chapter 267

At this point, even Cedric started to get antsy about Remington.

As the special assistant, Cedric felt he had a crystal-clear view of things. Remington was obviously smitten with his wife and cared a lot about their marriage.

Back when Lizetta was still working in Remington's office, Cedric would walk in to deliver some documents and catch the boss sneakily checking her out from behind his desk.

Sometimes he'd be so engrossed that he wouldn't even notice Cedric's entrance, and that usually stolc, handsome face would break into a goofy grin.

That's love, man, Back then, Cedric was totally shipping Remington and his secret wifey, but who would've thought they'd be talking divorce and actually go through with it?

Cedric thought it was just a spat, but nope, they were really getting a divorce.

Lately, Remington had been super tight-lipped, and on the rare occasions he did speak, he was all fire and brimstone, obviously because his wife was leaving him.

Cedric believed Remington was too proud, but if it took a ladder to bring him down to earth and chase after Lizetta at the airport, he didn't mind being that ladder.

"Mr. Dashiell, there's no hurdle too high for a married couple, right? You and Mrs. Dashiell don't have any big issues. She's just miffed about the Ms. Hawthome thing. Just explain it to her properly. She loves you to bits; she'll stay for sure."

"You done?" Remington looked at Cedric and asked.

Seeing Remington respond, Cedric got a second wind, nodding vigorously and launching into another impassioned plea.

"If you really let Mrs. Dashiell leave the country, give it a month of cold war, and even the deepest love will go cold. And when she comes back, you'll just be heading to the registry office for a divorce certificate."

Remington nodded, "Done? Then get out."

With that, the man lowered his head and continued browsing through his documents.

Cedric was left speechless.

Was his reaction too cold? Was Cedric's fanboying not strong enough, not heartfelt enough?

Could a shipper's heart take such a beating?

Cedric's stubbornness kicked in, his feet seemingly welded to the spot, and he spoke up again.

"Mr. Dashiell, your pride ain't worth a dime right now!"

Remington, probably fed up, chuckled and glanced at Cedric, curling his lips slightly as if to say.

"So? You dropped your pride and begged your cheating fiancée to come back. Did she regret it? Did she get back with you?"

Cedric was thunderstruck!

Why the sudden personal attack?

Cedric, with a sad face, said, "My girlfriend didn't cheat."

"Right, she just kept a backup," Remington cut in.

When Cedric returned from abroad, eager to propose, he found his girlfriend had already printed wedding invitations with another guy.

Despite that, Cedric still went ahead with the proposal setup, but the girl didn't even show up, leaving Cedric drunk and crying under her window.

"It's because I was too busy, never had time for her, missed her birthday, wasn't there when her dad had the accident."

"She's so great, she's getting married next week. Don't forget to send a hefty wedding gift."

Remington sneered, as if to say Cedric, this hopeless romantic, was trying to brainwash him?

Pure nonsense.

"Get out! Stick to the schedule."

Remington commanded sternly, and Cedric's eyes began to redden, feeling both struck and stung.

Summoning great courage, he said, "My ex might have been at fault, but I had my share of blame too, solidon't resent her Mr. Dashiell, don't worry, I'll sincerely bless her at her wedding next week, because I'm not over her yet. But if she's found a better option, I'll wish her

the best. That's where my heart is. But Mr. Dashiell, can you really bear to let your wife go?"

Having said his piece, Cedric didn't wait for Remington to explode, he turned to make a quick exit.novelbin

However, just as his hand touched the office door, Remington's chilling voice followed him.

"We've had quite a few employees with mental strain recently. The logistics department special setting up a room. Since you're so good at giving advice, you can be a counselor. You'll have plenty of time to play the loyal puppy"

Cedric's face fell, wishing he could slap himself.

He knew about the counseling room setup, and the staff had jokinglym called it the Starlight Group's "residents' committee."

No need to be so harsh; he was a top-notch grad with double degrees in Finance and Investment from a world-class university!
