Tania hurriedly said, “Seren, you have to stay cheerful. If Zachary dares to anger you, just let me know
and I’ll teach him a lesson.
“Right now, your mood comes first.”
Her pregnant daughter-in-law was more important than her son.

them to work off on, and because Zachary held some misconceptions about her, thinking that she held
ulterior motives and had sweet-talked his nana into forcing him to marry her.

Recalling that Zachary was practically a fiend when it came to doting on his wife, Tania laughed. “That’s
true. I shouldn’t worry because Zachary has always doted on you. He wouldn’t argue with you. But
Seren, do you really think Austin’s going to become a chef to pursue his bride candidate?
“When I asked him who his employer was, he refused to tell me. He’s being so secretive, I think he
really might be doing it to court his future wife.”
After listening to Serenity’s counsel, Tania also felt that Austin wanted to become a private chef to court
his bride-to-be.
However, she would not feel at ease until she learned who he was going to be working for.
“Austin might be refusing to tell you because of two reasons. One, he might be afraid you’ll interfere
and not allow him to do his job properly, or two, he really is doing it to pursue someone. Once Zachary
gets back tonight, I’ll bring this up and get him to see if he can find out whether the family Austin’s
going to work for has a marriageable daughter. We’ll know then.”
“Right, right. Get Zachary to ask. Austin always listens to his brother. He always talks to him whenever
he has something on his mind and never tells me about it. He tells his dad more than he does me too.”
Tania sighed.
“Sons are like that—once they grow older, they’re closer to their dads.”
“Daughters are still the best, but I wasn’t lucky enough to have a daughter. You’ve got to do your best
to give birth to a granddaughter for me, Seren. I’m in good health and I’ll be able to live until she
becomes an adult. I can enjoy my granddaughter’s considerate and kind gentleness then, to make up
for my regret that I wasn’t able to have a daughter.”
Serenity’s smile stiffened and she said, “Mom, I can’t make any promises. I have nothing to do with
whether or not this child will be a boy or girl—that’s all up to Zachary.”
Tania was silent for a moment before she said, “That’s true. Us women have nothing to do with that.”
Both women felt a bit awkward talking about this.
Tania hurriedly changed the subject and said, “I wonder what sort of person your nana has handpicked
for Austin.”
She found out and even decided on Hayden as her future granddaughter-in-law. Now, Kevin was going
to marry Hayden soon.
