Chapter 2939

Hayden picked up the brocade box and opened it to take a look before closing it once more and asking

Hugh, “You bought this to coax one of your girlfriends with, didn’t you? It’s not my style.”novelbin

She tossed the box back to him.

“I have no shortage of things like these. Kevin has been buying jewelry, women’s clothing, high-heels,

and stuff like that for me like mad for the past few days.”

She had a lot of things.

She had more than enough money of her own. If she liked something, she could afford it even if it was

expensive.

Her future mother-in-law had also given her a lot of precious jewelry.

It was just that she was not used to wearing them.

Even Grandma May had given her a few expensive pieces of jewelry as a gift upon their first meeting.

Grandma May was born before World War II. Her family was rich but later went through a period of

decline before they eventually got back up on their feet.

Some of the jewelry in Grandma May’s collection were valuable antiques.

She had quite a few daughters-in-law and had given each of them some jewelry, but still had a lot left.

At first, she had declared that if any of them gave her a granddaughter, she would give half her

collection to her granddaughter, but in the end, she could not give any of it away.

Now that she had granddaughters-in-law, all of her choosing, she treated all of them equally. Each one

of them would receive gifts of precious jewelry from her.

She was just too rich. Even after giving so many things away, she still had plenty of personal assets.

She also said that she would reward whoever gave her a great-granddaughter generously.

None of the women who married into the York family held much hope for this though.

The Yorks were famous for producing only sons.

They had not had a baby girl born to them for generations.

The ladies of the York family did not think they were lucky enough to give birth to the precious little girl

who would be very much loved by the whole family.

Hugh said sourly, “Now that you have Kevin, you don’t care about me anymore. He might give you

plenty of things, but they’re all from him, not from me. We’re siblings and it’s my first time giving you a

necklace, but you’re not willing to accept it. My feelings are very hurt.

“I really did pick this out for you, not for any of my girlfriends.”

Hayden took the box back in amusement. “Alright, stop pulling such a long face. I’ll accept it, alright? I

think I can switch careers and open a jewelry store at this point. I could sell the jewelry you guys have

given me for an astronomical sum of money.”

That was just all talk, she would not actually do that.

If she dared to do so, Kevin would have a fit, which she found hard to deal with.

Hayden had to admit that she found it difficult to handle Kevin. He was hard to pacify.

“I won’t be coming in tomorrow. I’m handing everything to do with the company over to you. Do it well.”

Hugh’s handsome face immediately fell, but he could not say anything about it.

He had promised Kevin. If he could not do it, Kevin would snitch on him to his parents.

These days, single people who were a little older and still stayed at home would suffer their parents’

disdain.

“Where are you guys going?” Hugh asked. Updated at Dr?manovеls.cоm

“Kevin planned the itinerary. I’m happy and at ease no matter where I go as long as I’m with him.”

Hugh grimaced.
