Chapter 2888

Carrie dared not talk back and scrambled into the car.

Two hours later, now reverted to her identity as a Newman, Carrie was panting as she climbed a flight

of stairs. She finally got to the entrance of the unit she rented.

When she took her key out and was about to open the door, it opened on its own. Wait, someone had

opened it from the inside.

Carrie’s first thought was that someone had broken into her house.

‘What the hell? Why would a robber want to break into a broke woman’s house?’

Right then, she identified the person who opened the door. It was Brenda. Carrie exclaimed, “Why are

you in my house, Aunt Brenda? Do you have my keys?”

She did not recall giving her aunt the keys to her house.

Brenda was startled. Upon looking clearly, she said, “You scared me, Carrie? You didn’t make a sound.

Didn’t you give me your keys when you rented the house and asked me to help you clean up? I forgot

to return them to you.

“Where have you been? You didn’t return for a few days. I was thinking of moving in with you because

my house is too cramped. I wouldn’t have known you weren’t home for a few days if I hadn’t come.”

She guided Carrie into the house as if she were the true tenant of the place.

Carrie entered the house to find it filled with cardboard, empty water bottles, and metal scraps.

She frowned in disdain, pointing toward the trash, and asked, “What are those, Aunt Brenda? Why did

you bring them into my house? You collected them, right? Get rid of them. Even if I had not been home

for several days, I was the one who rented this house. It’s mine because I’m paying the rent. It’s not for

you to store your trash.”

Brenda replied, “Don’t get so agitated, Carrie. You said your parents had transferred their assets to

Trenton. It’ll be difficult for you to get the assets back. I had no choice. How will you help me if you can’t

even manage on your own?

“I have to survive. We need money to feed ourselves. We have lost our status and are being bullied

now. I may be working, but it doesn’t pay well. However, being a cleaner has its perks. I can collect

these cardboard and bottles and sell them off.

“Look at how much I managed to collect. I can buy a few days’ worth of vegetables after selling the

stuff.”

Brenda’s eyes reddened as she spoke, “It’s been tough, Carrie. I’ve never experienced such hardship

since I was born. Look at me. I have to collect trash at my age. How could Camryn be so cruel?

“In contrast, she has become Callum York’s wife and is managing your parents’ company. She doesn’t

even care about you, her younger sister. She doesn’t give you an allowance or a shelter, subjecting you

to such suffering.

“Camryn doesn’t care about family at all. No matter what we had done to her in the past, we’re still her

aunts.”

The Joyners and Chandlers hated Camryn to the bone.

Although they were not on the list of Wiltspoon’s noble families in the past, they were still well-off. They

had their companies, villas, drivers, and maids. They never had to worry about their finances or

necessities.

However, their situation started changing for the worse after Camryn took over the Newman family.

She had been lucky enough to get the York family’s backing and ruined the Joyners and Chandlers’novelbin

plans. They lost everything and had to work to survive.

Brenda wanted to agitate Carrie by saying those words. She wanted Carrie to step up and go against

Camryn.

No matter what, Carrie was Camryn’s biological sister.

Carrie said indifferently, “I just went away to clear my thoughts. I was annoyed by Camryn and Trenton.

I might have done something extreme if I didn’t take a breather. I don’t want to go to prison again.”

She had truly wished to kill Camryn and Trenton.

However, she suppressed her urges and refrained from doing anything stupid once she thought of life

in prison.
