After speaking, Liberty laughed dryly. “Compared to those people, I’m not vicious or cruel.”
If reclaiming the position of matriarch required these methods, she would not be able to do it; she
would rather let Caroline have it.
Hayden gave it some thought and said, “It couldn’t have been Celine or Hunter, nor could it have been
Madam Fisher. They can’t suspect us because we’ve been under Madam Fisher’s watchful eye all
along. The other Fishers probably didn’t have the guts to do this.
“Caroline’s a possibility. She’s bold enough to do it. However, based on my understanding of her, she’s
a righteous person. She won’t use such underhanded methods to compete with Celine. Hunter is her
biological father as well. Although they didn’t share a close bond, she won’t go that far.”
Liberty nodded. “I don’t think it’s Caroline. I may not have interacted much with her, but I think she isn’t
such a person. If she wanted to use such despicable methods, she wouldn’t have waited until now.”
“You’re right.”
“Some of the Fishers had witnessed the scene as well. Although they fled quickly, and Madam Fisher
probably didn’t recognize them amid her anger, they were worried they would be targeted or killed to

Liberty remembered all of their faces.
Hayden agreed. “Madam Fisher is ruthless. This embarrassing incident has to stay within the family. If
those people weren’t seen, they had a chance to live. Otherwise, they’d probably get killed.”
“Do you remember their faces, Liberty?”
“Yes.”
“You can have eyes on them in secret. If they happen to be attacked by Madam Fisher, you can save
them from despair with your men and win them over.”
Hayden was a local. She knew the Fisher family better than Liberty did.
“Those who had attended the banquet today were all capable members of the Fisher family. The ones
who are close to Madam Fisher are competent, and they hold a high status in the family. You can try to
rope them to your side.
“You’re a descendant of the previous matriarch. With those rights, they’ll easily side with you.”
Liberty nodded. “Thank you, Hayden.”
Hayden smiled. She said, “Serenity and I will be family in the future so that makes us relatives to-be. I’ll
help you however I can.”
Having attended the banquet, she could no longer stay out of trouble. Even without attending, other
people would think that Liberty already had her support—all because she and Kevin were in a
relationship.
“The wives of Madam Fisher’s sons,” said Liberty all of a sudden.
“Do you think they’re the ones behind this, Hayden?”
After some thought, Hayden said, “I can’t be certain. They were close to Celine previously. Before
Caroline returned, they often tried to please Celine. Even after Caroline came back, they remained
loyal to Celine.
“The Fishers' bias toward Celine isn’t unheard of.
“There had been a recent scandal of Madam Fisher’s sons having affairs. Their wives had made a big
fuss out of it. I heard they and Celine had become estranged too. Celine knew about her brothers’
affairs and kept it a secret. Her sisters-in-law were offended because of that.
“When the couples were fighting, Celine had taken her brothers’ side. It makes sense that her sisters-
in-law would resent her and want to get their revenge.”
Hayden made a thorough analysis. “The wives had a motive, but how did they pull it off?”
