Chapter 2719

Celine did not want to go, but if she did not take food upstairs to Hunter while her mother asked in

Hayden’s presence, Hayden would think she was an unfilial daughter.

People in Jensburg knew that the Fisher family favored Celine over Caroline, saying the fake heiress

was favored over the real successor.

If Celine was not filial, she would lose her reputation. Celine hoped to rely on the Fisher family and

marry into a prestigious family as a young missus.

Therefore, as per Belinda’s order, she prepared food and drinks for Hunter and took them upstairs.

When Emma saw Celine going upstairs, she exchanged a glance with her sisters-in-law and carried on

as if nothing was wrong, continuing to eat and drink.

Liberty noticed the exchange between Emma and Ava and felt they were hiding something, though

since it was Celine, she supposed it did not concern her.

Liberty conversed casually with Caroline and occasionally exchanged words with Hayden.

Hayden was reserved in front of others, with refined table manners. Watching her eat was a kind of

enjoyment for Liberty.

Grandma May was beyond formidable, always having chosen the most outstanding daughters-in-law.

Kevin occasionally served Hayden food, displaying thoughtfulness.

Meanwhile, Celine, carrying food and drinks, arrived at her parents’ room and knocked on the door.

There was no response.

Knocking again, she called out, “Dad, it’s me.

“Dad, I’ve brought you some food. You didn’t come downstairs to eat. Mom invited some influential

people from the family for dinner. It’s lively downstairs.”

Still, there was no response from inside the room.

Celine knocked for a while longer before the door finally opened.

Hunter had a flushed face, holding an unfinished bottle of alcohol.

The strong smell made Celine wrinkle her nose, taking two steps back. She asked, “Dad, why are you

drinking so much?”

Without a word, Hunter turned and stumbled back to the sofa.

Celine paused for a moment, then carried the tray inside, arranging the food on the coffee table before

the sofa, including an unopened bottle of wine.

As she placed the bottle on the table, she said, “Mom asked me to bring you dinner. This wine is for

tonight’s guests. It’s all good wine. Much better than what you’re drinking now.”

Hunter said, “I’m just a lowly commoner. I have no status, money, position, or power. I should be

grateful for having a bed to sleep in and food to feed on. How would I dare to ask for something asnovelbin

luxurious as a bottle of good wine?

“I’m only worthy of drinking this kind of cheap alcohol. I even had to ask your brother for this, and he

had already drunk half the bottle,” Hunter said while taking a sip of his wine.

“Dad, I think you drank too much. Look, your face is all red and you’re walking really wobbly.”

Hunter replied, “I didn’t drink much, I just drank with an empty stomach, which got me drunk easily. It’s

getting hot here. Come, Cece, sit down, drink some wine with me.”

With that, Hunter took out a wine glass and poured some wine for Celine.

He placed the wine glass in front of Celine, inviting her to drink with him.

“Dad, I’ll drink from that bottle. You’ve already got this one.”

“I didn’t even drink directly from this bottle. What’s wrong? Even you’re starting to disdain me. Yes, I

know I’m useless. The only achievement I had in this life was having a few children with your mother.

Yet, she treats me like a slave, and you can see the kind of life I’m stuck in.”
