Chapter 2708

“Hugh is too laid-back. You should give him more work to do.”

“I’m aware of his capabilities. I already assigned him everything he could handle and withheld those

that were beyond him. He shouldn’t bite off more than he could chew.”

Hugh was great, but he was slightly lacking compared to his sister.

Besides, Hayden had been managing Queen Enterprise for several years. She had accumulated more

experience than Hugh.

Suddenly, Hayden smiled. She said, “Hugh will be angry if he finds out that you’re asking me to

increase his workload.”

“I’m not scared of him. I’m sad to see you working so hard every day. On the other hand, Hugh has so

much time to accompany different women and go shopping or to parties every day. He’s living his life.”

Hayden said, “I’m used to this kind of life. I can’t get used to being idle even for a day. Maybe I’m born

to work.”

“Where’s Liberty?” Hayden asked.

“She’s waiting at Fortress Hotel. Should we meet her there or head to Fisher Manor separately?”

“Didn’t you two discuss this beforehand?”

“We did.”

“There’s no need to change the plan if it has been decided. We shouldn’t let Liberty wait at the hotel. If

you had mentioned earlier that we’d be heading there separately, she wouldn’t have needed to wait for

so long.”

Kevin smiled. “That totally slipped my mind. I thought it would be safer for Liberty if we traveled

together.”novelbin

“Since she dared to come over, she must’ve prepared herself mentally. You don’t have to restrain her.”

“I’m not restraining her. I just wanted to show some support since she’s in a foreign place. It can

alleviate some of Serenity’s worries too.”

Kevin said in a low voice, “Madam Fisher is ruthless. Liberty probably struck a nerve in her with her

sudden arrival. She probably can’t sleep soundly at night because she’s worried the power she

snatched will be returned to its rightful owner.”

After a moment of silence, Hayden replied, “The Fisher family’s rules are terrible. They shouldn’t have

established such rules. Those who are capable should be the ones to assume positions of power.

That’s the only convincing way.”

Kevin went silent too.

It was true that the Fisher family’s rules were problematic.

Those who were incapable would obey the rules.

Nevertheless, those who were competent would not be satisfied with the role of a follower after some

time.

It would be especially obvious in the case of biological sisters, where the eldest daughter had an

advantage just because of her age. It was unfair to her younger sisters.

The younger ones would have been convinced if their eldest sister were exceptionally good.

However, what would happen if the eldest was average while they were better? Would the eldest still

be chosen to inherit the top position while they became her assistants?

The previous matriarch of the Fisher family, Tiara, was not useless in any way. She even performed

slightly better than Belinda. Belinda only stood a chance because Tiara trusted her sisters too much

and had her health affected by giving birth at an older age.

“Problems of the past are difficult to solve. There has to be a family head who’s courageous enough to

amend the rules. However, it may lead to greater competition among the family members. There’ll still

be evil plots and schemes.

“Humanity is weak when money, influence, and status are involved.”

Hayden did not say a word.

“Let’s not think about this anymore. It has nothing to do with us. We just have to support Liberty. She

can do whatever she wants. We’re only helping out because Liberty is my sister-in-law’s family.”

Otherwise, the Fisher family’s past was none of their concern.

Hayden smiled. “Of course. I have better things to do. Attending the banquet without an invitation

tonight is just a show of power.”

It was to warn the Fisher family not to get arrogant.

Liberty was her soon-to-be in-laws, after all.
