Chapter 2670

Belinda said, “I truly don’t feel like eating. You should go. I’ll head home shortly. I promise I won’t fall.

This is a small matter. I’ll get better after being in a bad mood for a day or two. I’ll be myself again

tomorrow.

“I won’t be devastated over an old man. I want to hear your thoughts. How do you plan to tackle Liberty

now that she’s here?”

“I’ll just remain calm and make thorough preparations just in case.”

Belinda smiled. “That’s good. As expected of my daughter.

“I met my niece, Audrey, when I was in Wiltspoon. There was some tension between us. She thinks I’m

a murderer no matter what I say, so she’s hostile toward me.

“She suggested I give Liberty a chance and train her so you and Liberty can compete fairly. If Liberty

loses, Audrey will accept you as the matriarch. If Liberty wins, we’ll have to give up on all our power.”

Audrey was not forthright about it but her intention could be read between the lines.

Belinda added, “Why should we give up on what’s ours, Carol? I didn’t agree to her terms.

“Liberty must have something planned by coming here. Keep an eye on her, and don’t let her interact

with our family too much. We must cut off every possibility of her winning them over. Also, she’ll

definitely develop a business in Jensburg. Money talks.

“As long as we stop her from doing that, she won’t be able to establish a foundation in Jensburg. This

is our territory. So what if Liberty has a few influential families backing her? They’re no match for us

locals here.

“It’ll be better if…”

Belinda slid a hand across her throat.

It meant she wanted Caroline to kill Liberty.

“However, you can’t leave any traces, at all. You must clear all your tracks after doing it. We can’t afford

to anger the families supporting her.”

Caroline said, “I want to compete against Liberty fairly, Mom. I don’t want to kill anyone. No matter how

clean the deed was, traces would always remain. Justice will prevail. Someone will find out one day.

“I don’t want to die, nor do I want to spend the rest of my life in prison.”

Belinda said, “I was just saying. I knew you wouldn’t do it. Anyway, I won’t be giving Liberty chances. If

she’s capable enough to fight you, I’ll accept that.”

“Mom, please don’t kill Liberty behind my back or push all the blame on me.”

Belinda scolded Caroline, “How can I possibly frame you? Don’t worry. I fear the power of the Yorks,

the Stones, and the Lewises. There’s also the Bucham family. I won’t kill her or even care what she

does here.

“She’s your enemy and obstacle to becoming the matriarch. I shall leave you to deal with her.

“Alright. You should have your meal. I’ll leave after this.”

Belinda lit another cigarette and continued smoking.

Since Caroline was unable to persuade her, she said, “Please eat something when you get home. I’ll

call Elaine later and get her to make sure you eat.”

“I won’t die from hunger. I haven’t lived long enough. I want to see you get married and give birth to thenovelbin

next matriarch.”

Caroline left.

As she walked to the elevator, she sent a message to Darren and asked him to arrange a secret

meeting between her and Liberty.
