Chapter 2648

“No need, I have my own car. Oh, if we’re going to drink, I can’t drive. I’ll have the driver come over.”

Darren said, “No need to call the driver. I'll take you home. I don’t drink.”

“Suit yourself.”

Caroline wanted to have a couple of drinks to celebrate the success of her revenge plan.

She immersed herself back into work.

By the time she finished, it was already eleven o'clock at night.

The employees working late in the company had long gone home.

When she walked out of the office building, she saw Darren leaning against the car, waiting for her. As

she approached, Darren straightened up and quickly walked toward her.

“How long have you been here?” Caroline asked as she got into the car.

“Not too long, about ten minutes.”

After both of them fastened their seat belts, he started the engine.

Caroline told him to go to a popular food truck. Darren chuckled. “Do you fancy food trucks for late-

night snacks?”

“I used to go there often.”

Darren fell silent.

He knew Caroline's life before returning to the Fisher family was not easy.

As the car moved, Caroline leaned back in the seat, partially lowering the window to look at the

scenery.

Even though it was already eleven at night, both Jensburg and Wiltspoon were bustling cities, and

there were still many people outside.

For those who enjoyed the nightlife, this was peak hour.

Some people hurried past, probably like Caroline, just getting off work late. They either rode bicycles or

e-bikes, rushing by.

In the houses they rented, their families were waiting for them.

Caroline envied them a little. No matter how tough or tired they were, they returned home to caring and

loving family members and adorable children.

She had money, but what awaited her when she got home?

She had parents and siblings-in-law, but none of them genuinely cared for her.

Her foster father was still in prison, and her foster family did not treat her with a pure heart; as if she

was detestable.

If the sisters' swap had not happened twenty-odd years ago, maybe she would have received the love

of her parents and siblings-in-law, just like Celine.

Now, due to her scheming, Celine’s position in the Fisher family plummeted, facing the resentment of

their sisters-in-law. Yet, she reluctantly admitted that Celine gained more in terms of familial affection.

The Fisher family members genuinely cared for Celine and Belinda treated her just as dearly.

“What are you thinking about?” Darren asked gently and solemnly.

“Nothing.”

Caroline withdrew her gaze from outside and shut the car window.

Caroline did not want to voice her thoughts, not wanting anyone to know that she lacked love.novelbin
