Chapter 2627

Belinda responded, “Hmm, that’s good. I’m not at home, so listen to Caroline. Anyone who disrespects

Caroline disrespects me.”

The servant’s expression stiffened, and she quickly responded, “Noted, Madam Fisher.”

“That’s all, I’ll hang up now.”

Right then, Belinda was ready to disembark.

She did not call Hunter or notify anyone to fetch her from the airport. Her reason for returning early was

to see how well Caroline was doing during her absence.

After getting off the plane, the group walked out of the airport and hailed two taxis to head to Fisher

Enterprise.

Belinda did not go home and only wanted to go to the company.

After more than ten minutes in the taxi, Belinda called Hunter. It took a while before he picked up.

“What were you doing? It took so long for you to answer the phone,” Belinda questioned.

Hunter was still catching his breath and came up with a lie, “I’m at home, and my phone is charging

upstairs. I heard the phone ring, so I rushed upstairs to answer it. Running up the stairs got me out of

breath. I’m getting old, only a few steps up and I’m panting.”

Belinda laughed, “You think you’re still young? We’re both over seventy.”

“Sweetheart, when are you coming back?”

Hunter added, “You went to attend a wedding, why did it take so long? You’ve been away for almost

half a month, and you didn’t take me with you.”

“I didn’t just attend a wedding, there were other things I needed to take care of. You can’t help with

them anyway so why bother bringing you along? I still have a few more days of work before I can

return. Look after things at home. Caroline is still new at managing the company, and people aren’t

completely convinced by her.”

“Certainly. Sweetheart…about Caroline. Well, it’s not that I have complaints about our biological

daughter. It’s just that she did not grow up with us. There’s no emotional bond between us. She… Well,

let’s not talk about it. If we say too much, others will say we’re biased toward Cece.

“Although Caroline’s our flesh and blood, it was Cece who grew up by our side. She was the one we

cradled and raised, our feelings toward Cece are definitely deeper.”

Hunter did not lie for he truly had no emotional connection with his biological daughter.

The daughter he loved and doted on was the fake daughter, Celine.

Due to the Fishers’ family rules, he knew that his only daughter would inherit the position of the

matriarch. Therefore, he had treated Celine exceptionally well, fostering a deep father-daughter bond.

He looked forward to enjoying a comfortable life when she took over, finally being liberated from

decades of being managed by his wife.

Little did he know that the daughter he had cherished for over twenty years was not his biological child.

When Hunter first learned the truth, he could not accept it.novelbin

Even so, there was nothing he could do. Several paternity tests all yielded the same result, confirming

that Celine was not his daughter by blood.

“Caroline has a solid moral compass, impartial and just. She is perfect for the role of the matriarch.

Your emotions will no doubt lean toward Celine, so it's only natural that you find Caroline less pleasing.

“Alright, I'm busy now. Let's talk about our daughters when I return. When I'm not at home, you better

behave and not flirt with others outside. Keep your eyes on our sons, too.”

All three sons had cheated. If she had not strictly monitored Hunter in the past, who knew how many

times he would have cheated on her?

It seemed that Hunter carried some unpleasant genes—the genes of a cheater.

Fortunately, Caroline inherited her good genes.

“Our sons are busy with business, and they occasionally play around. It’s not like they’re bringing

anyone home, so as long as they don’t get divorced, let the daughters-in-law turn a blind eye. How else

do you expect me to handle it when things have gotten so ugly? I don’t have a say in this household.”
