“Mom even told me to compensate Caroline for her car. She has more than one car and could’ve
switched to another when that one was damaged. Why should I pay for the repairs? She asked for
hundreds of thousands of dollars. I don’t have much savings left. That amount isn’t enough for me, let
alone giving it to her.”
Hunter said, “What else can be done? She’s the true daughter of the Fisher family.”
The father and daughter despised Caroline but could not do anything about it.
They simply hoped that Marcus could do the deed and have Caroline marry him.
At that moment, a commotion was heard outside.
The quarrel escalated into a fistfight as Hunter and Celine heard the butler trying to break it.
They exchanged glances and immediately walked out.
It seemed like Emma caught her husband cheating on her. The couple had fought throughout their
journey home and started throwing fists at each other when they arrived.
Emma had lost all her composure as a young missus of the house. She was grabbing her husband,
hitting and biting him like a lunatic.
Although Adrian felt bad, he gained confidence once he got home. How could he allow his wife to beat
him up? So he retaliated.
Emma got beaten up badly. Her face was bruised. Furious and aggrieved, she sat on the floor and
started wailing. “You hit me, Adrian.”
Adrian was not exactly in a good state either.
His face and neck bore scratch marks from his wife’s long nails. He felt a burning sensation from the
scratches. His wounds were bleeding slightly too.
The butler pulled him away and said, “Mr. Adrian, stop fighting. Ms. Caroline will be mad at you againnovelbin
when she gets back.”
“I’m not afraid of that country bumpkin. Does she think she can control me just because she’s the
eldest young lady? I’m her brother.”
Emma and Adrian had been fighting frequently ever since she discovered his affair. Caroline stood on
Emma’s side and criticized him. That infuriated him.
Upon the mention of Caroline, Emma immediately picked up her bag and called Caroline.
Caroline answered.
“Carol, come back. Your brother’s going to beat me to death,” Emma said while crying.
She did not like Caroline half a month ago, but Caroline was her savior at that moment.
Her husband had cheated on her. Even Celine, whom she had pleased all along, defended Adrian.
Emma was exasperated.
Although she intended to instigate Celine to fight Caroline by flattering the former, she had treated
Celine sincerely when she first married into the family.
Celine was a woman, yet she stood on Adrian’s side. She blamed Emma for not keeping an eye on her
man and that she could not blame Adrian for having an affair.
At that moment, Emma resented everyone in the Fisher family except Caroline.
Her true sister-in-law was able to empathize with her situation as a woman, unlike the immature Celine.
Emma would not let Celine off the hook. She was just a fake daughter who had no right to act high and
mighty.
