Chapter 2434

In fact, Duncan could have returned to his place. He owned a property at The Oasis.novelbin

He was simply worried about Liberty. He did not want Liberty to be alone, so he stayed the night at her

residence.

Liberty did not kick him out, and this made Duncan happy.

Although Liberty had not taken their relationship further, she had gradually gotten used to him being

around as time went by.

He did not talk about love, and neither did she. However, anybody could feel the chemistry between

them when they were together.

“I’m used to getting up early. I went to bed early last night anyway. I woke up the moment the sun was

up. I can’t even sleep in even if I try.”

Duncan smiled at Liberty. She seemed to be in a better mood today. He was relieved that her eyes

were not as swollen as yesterday.

Liberty had been carrying a heavy burden for a long time. Now that it was finally gone, she felt like she

could collapse all at once. Liberty cried, letting out all the pain and sadness that she had been holding

inside. After the good cry, she could pull herself back together.

The Hunt sisters were strong. Duncan believed Liberty could move on soon enough.

She had never let him down.

Liberty smiled. “Me too. Have you had breakfast, Mr. Lewis?”

“No. I was waiting for you to join me. Mrs. Lane just made breakfast.”

Liberty approached him from the back and wheeled him into the dining room.

Mrs. Lane had served breakfast on the table.

Others may address Liberty formally now that she was a businesswoman, but she was back to being

casual with Mrs. Lane.

Mrs. Lane often sat at the dining table with them for meals.

“It’s quiet now that Sonny isn’t home.”

Liberty expressed, “I’m so used to waking Sonny up after I get up. I only remembered that Sonny was

with Seren when I opened his bedroom and saw no one inside.”

Mrs. Lane said with a smile, “That’s the thing with kids. We find Sonny noisy when he’s home, and the

house is too quiet when he’s not around. Even though he’s the only one who isn’t here, the house feels

empty.”

“The heartless kid didn’t even think to give me a call,” Liberty ranted about her son.

Duncan said with a smile, “He’ll be back with Serenity tomorrow.”

It was not Sonny’s first time away from Liberty. She barely felt much of her son’s absence; perhaps she

was feeling emotional because Serenity just had the wedding.

She felt like a father who had given his daughter away.

“I’ll call and check on him later. I missed him a lot when he was away for the first time.”

Duncan replied, “Okay, but I think Sonny might be asleep.”

Liberty believed Sonny must have had a blast at the lively celebration yesterday. He must be catching

up on sleep now.

In the end, she did not call Sonny right after breakfast, not wanting to wake the little man.

After breakfast, she wheeled Duncan out.

As Grandma May once said, a cloudy and windy day was a perfect time for outdoor activities.

“Are you going for physiotherapy next, Mr. Lewis?” Liberty asked while pushing his wheelchair.

Duncan responded, “I have to practice walking. I’m like a toddler, learning to walk again. Even a toddler

is doing better than me. I can only take two steps even though I have been in therapy for a while. I

break out in cold sweats if I try to take more steps.”

The doctor told him to take it easy and not to rush himself.

How could he not rush?

He was eager to walk normally as soon as tomorrow. He would no longer have to bother others to take

care of him.

Duncan wanted to stand right next to Liberty and be her shoulder to lean on.

Before he could do that, he could not think about taking things further with Liberty. He did not want to

be a burden to her even though Liberty never found him one.
