Chapter 2201

Serenity’s clothes were all dirty, and the straps of her bag were torn off by those people.

Thus, she dared not go back to the rented house. She was afraid that her sister would be upset if she

found out.

Her sister was in high school and had a lot of academic pressure.

Their family did not have much money either.

After their parents died in a car accident, the insurance payout they received was divided among their

grandparents and relatives, leaving only a small amount of money for the two sisters.

Her sister said that they needed to live frugally in order to have enough money for both of them to finish

university.

Serenity felt that her sister would have to spend money to buy her a new backpack if she damaged

hers, so she did not dare to go home.

Fortunately, her classmate, Jasmine, who had always been good friends with her, took Serenity back to

the Sox residence.

Mrs. Sox was shocked and heartbroken when she saw Serenity.

She hugged the little Serenity, comforting her and promising to help her fix her bag straps so that her

sister would not find out.

Serenity could change back into her clothes after they were washed and dried.

Mrs. Sox also noticed that Serenity’s school uniform was too big.

Serenity said that her old uniform did not fit anymore, so she started wearing her sister’s hand-me-

downs. However, her sister was five years older, so the clothes were too big for her.

Mrs. Sox knew how to make clothes and use a sewing machine, so she helped Serenity alter her

oversized school uniform.novelbin

A few days later, on Sunday, Liberty brought her sister and a basket of apples to express their

gratitude.

To Mrs. Sox, Serenity was her daughter’s classmate. It was a simple favor to help alter Serenity’s

clothes.

However, for Serenity and Liberty, Mrs. Sox’s kindness brought warmth to their lives. Since their

parents passed away and they had to rely on each other, they experienced many hardships and

witnessed the coldness of human hearts. Mrs. Sox’s small act of kindness was like sunshine in winter

warming the sisters’ hearts.

“The hens I reared have laid eggs. I’ll go and pick some fresh ones, as well as a few chickens to give to

Serenity.”

Mrs. Sox muttered to herself, “It’s nothing valuable, it’s just a small token. Serenity and her sister don’t

have it easy. Now that she’s finally pregnant, I can rest easy. I knew that God is fair. Since He gave

Serenity such good in-laws, He would give her a child as well.”

“Serenity will be overjoyed. She won’t disdain it.”

Jasmine smiled and said, “Mom, you can also pack some of your homemade pickled vegetables for

Serenity. I’m sure she likes to eat sour food now.”

“I’ll pack a little for her to try, but she shouldn’t eat too much of preserved food. Our pickled vegetables

were freshly made this year, which is why I let you two try them, but it’s not good to have too much.”

Mrs. Sox turned to open the refrigerator, took out a bag of dried cucumbers, and said, “I dried out some

cucumbers. Give a pack to Serenity too. She used to love eating them.”

“I want some too, Mom. You can’t just take care of Serenity. I’m also your daughter, and I’m also

pregnant.”

“If you want to eat, then come home and eat.”

Mrs. Sox did not let her daughter take the food back to eat at her in-laws’ home.

The nutritionist in her in-laws’ place was strict and would definitely throw away the cucumbers if they

saw it.

Jasmine pouted and hummed.

‘Look, Mom just tried to console me, but she’s instinctively scared that my in-laws will throw away these

things even if I brought them from my home. If the nutritionist says I can eat them, then they will be

thrown away.’

Mrs. Sox prepared many things for Serenity, including supplements, homegrown eggs, and free-range

chickens they raised themselves.

Then, she set aside a portion of everything she made herself that was still fresh to give to Serenity.

Mrs. Sox knew how to drive, so she took a car out of the garage and loaded up all the things she

prepared for Serenity into the car. The car was stuffed to the brim.
