Celine was dumbfounded. She only spoke one sentence. Was Caroline, who always rendered her
speechless at home, actually upset?

Celine turned to look at Caroline. She told her mom, “Wasn’t she tattling on me to you? Why did she
look so upset just now?”
Madam Fisher glanced at her biological daughter, who kept silent. She explained in Caroline’s stead,
“Your elder sister didn’t tattle on you. She did come in looking upset, but that’s because she’s sad
about driving an old car. She doesn’t have a new car and said your car’s much better than hers.
“Carol, tell your sister to accompany you to the car dealer to get a new one. You can buy whichever
model you want. Don’t say that I’m biased toward your sister.”
Madam Fisher looked annoyed when she said that, but she still promised Caroline a new car.
She also made Celine accompany Caroline to buy a new car.
Upon hearing that Mom was buying Caroline a new car, Celine felt sour. She pouted and said, “Mom,
although her car isn’t new, how old can the cars in our garage get? It’s good enough that she has a car
to drive, yet she’s asking for a new one.
“What if she’s bad at driving and clumsily hit someone after switching to a new car? People from the
countryside are rough.”
“I may have grown up in the country, but I’m no longer one of them because I’ve returned to my
biological family. What about you, Celine? When will your registered residence be revised to your
biological parents’ address? You’ll become the rough country bumpkin when that time comes.”
