Chapter 2115

The house turned lively after Sonny woke up.

Serenity, his biological aunt, did not have the chance to get close to Sonny. She took her sister out of

the manor to enjoy the scenery.

The scenery at Wildridge Manor differed over the four seasons.

Spring blossomed with beautiful flowers while summer let one admire the magnificent lotuses.

Fall saw red leaves at the foot of the mountain and while there was no snow in Wiltspoon for one to

enjoy the white blanket of scenery, that did not affect the lovely surroundings of the manor.

“How is Hank?” Serenity asked her sister.

“He’s recovering well. His mental state today was much better than when he just woke up, but he still

can’t get out of bed and walk around. Jessica was really trying to kill him with every stab. The doctor

said it was a miracle he survived.”

Serenity said after a moment of silence, “If he’s alive, Sonny will still have a father. He can’t influence

you anymore anyway, so you can just take Sonny to visit him occasionally.”

Liberty hummed. “Although we fell out and ended up divorcing, he’s still Sonny’s father. I’ve never

wanted him to die.

“They wanted me to leave Sonny in the hospital for two days to accompany him, but Sonny refused.”

Serenity chuckled. “They used to treat Sonny like a toy. They’ll play with him when they feel like it but

don’t spare him a second glance if they don’t like him. Sonny’s grandparents like their other

grandchildren more. After all, they’ve raised Chelsea’s children.

“Sonny isn’t close to them, so he naturally refuses to stay in the hospital to accompany his father if

you’re not around.”

Even if they were relatives, feelings had to be cultivated.

It was normal for grandparents not to get along with their grandchildren. Furthermore, they never took

care of Sonny. It was very normal for him to not feel close to them.

“Mr. Lewis also went,” Liberty added.

Serenity was struck by realization. “No wonder they wanted Sonny to stay. They’re afraid that Sonny

will change his last name to Lewis.”

“Sonny won’t change his last name. It was agreed on during the divorce. They’re not worried that

Sonny will change his last name. They just can’t bear to see him so close to Mr. Lewis.”

Sonny used to be afraid of Duncan and hid at the sight of him.

As time passed, he slowly accepted Duncan’s closeness and got used to seeing the scar on the man’s

face, so he no longer felt frightened.

Duncan was also very kind to Sonny.

The two were as tight as father and son now, and it was all thanks to Duncan’s sincerity. Feelings were

something that had to be cultivated.

“Why didn’t Mr. Lewis come along to the manor if he was at the hospital with you?”

Liberty was silent before saying, “He still has low self-esteem. He feels that since it’s inconvenient for

him to move, it’ll end up affecting everyone’s mood if he comes over. He also doesn’t want to face the

elders’ care and sympathy.”

Serenity fell silent.novelbin

Ring, ring, ring…

Just then, her phone rang.

She took out her phone and looked at the caller ID. It was from Audrey. She said to her sister, “It’s Aunt

Audrey.”

“Answer it. Is she calling to urge us to take Sonny over?”

After Sonny started preschool, the various family elders fought over him for the weekends.

Serenity answered Audrey’s call.

“Aunt Audrey, how was your afternoon nap?”

“I couldn’t sleep, so I got up and called you to talk about the progress of that matter. Your cousin

checked, but there was no evidence. He only sorted out the evidence provided by mouth from reliable

sources. Seren, I’ll take a picture later and send it to you and your sister.”

Serenity hummed and comforted Audrey, “You can’t rush this matter, Aunt. You have to investigate

slowly. After all, it has been decades.”

“I know.”

Audrey said in understanding but sighed. “It’ll be a lie to say I don’t think about it all day. I spent

decades looking for your mother, but she had already passed on. Fortunately, she had you and Liberty.

It’s like soothing the wish I’ve had for decades.”
