“Forget it then.”
Josh stopped looking and turned to head outside.
Great. There was no ice cream in the house. It was not he who denied Jasmine ice cream, but it was
because there was none in the house.
Jasmine could only smack her lips upon hearing that her mother-in-law had discarded all ice creams

She would not be able to have any even if she went back to her family.
Her parents were much stricter than her mother-in-law.
They felt the Buchams had high standards. Since Jasmine had managed to marry into a wealthy family
with kind in-laws, she had to be content. If she cared for the baby properly and gave birth to a healthy
grandchild, her in-laws’ love for her would not be in vain.
Therefore, Jasmine’s parents attached much importance to the baby in her womb.
‘I can buy ice cream secretly after opening the store tomorrow.’
“I’ll buy ice cream for you tomorrow afternoon. It’s the hottest time of the day, so eating some is fine,
but you can’t get it yourself.”
Josh’s words had terminated Jasmine’s secret plan of eating ice cream.
He would arrange for bodyguards to follow her every day.
She knew he did it to protect her, but it restrained her freedom. Anything she did would be seen by the
bodyguards and reported to her husband.
Jasmine finally understood why her best friend did not like Zachary assigning bodyguards to follow her
around.
“I’ll tell Serenity to eat more ice cream before getting pregnant. She’ll only be able to stare at it if she
gets pregnant.”
Josh said, “I don’t know when Zachary will become a father.”
Jasmine said, “I dreamt about Seren being pregnant last night. She gave birth to a daughter while we
had a son. After that, I told her that we could become in-laws. She agreed to it readily.
“I think she’ll get pregnant very soon.”
Josh said, “Dear, they said dreams are the opposite of reality. You dreamt of her having a daughter
while you had a son. If it were the opposite, it would be her giving birth to a son while you have a
daughter. However, it doesn’t hinder our families from becoming in-laws.
“I’ll look for Zachary tomorrow and make a promise with him about our families becoming in-laws in the
future. If both our families have daughters or sons, they can become forever sisters or brothers,
respectively. On the other hand, they can become husband and wife if we have a son and daughter
each.”
Jasmine nodded repeatedly.
She was not under pressure to give birth to a son, so having a baby girl or boy did not really matter.
Her in-laws were open-minded too. They did not require her to give birth to a son to inherit the family
assets. Her mother-in-law always said that having either a son or daughter was the same. They would
all be the Bucham family’s children and be eligible for the family inheritance. There would not be bias
toward men.
Her mother-in-law liked granddaughters more as well.
Whenever Jasmine went out with Mrs. Bucham, the latter could not resist shopping in child apparel
stores. She would always look at princess dresses for girls.
Mrs. Bucham said having a daughter was great. She could dress Jasmine’s daughter prettily like a
princess.
On the other hand, a son would be naughty and annoying.
She also shared many embarrassing stories about Josh and his brother. Only then did Jasmine
discover how mischievous Josh was as a child. He was so naughty to the extent he did not have
friends.
“If Zachary and Serenity have a daughter, our son will have a tough time ahead of him.”
Jasmine looked toward Josh. She did not understand what he meant.
Josh explained, “The Yorks haven’t had daughters for several generations. If Zachary and Serenity give
birth to a daughter, she’ll be the precious treasure of the York family. It won’t be easy to ask for her
hand in marriage.
“The chances will only be higher if the man is exceptionally outstanding and has caught the York
family’s eye since he was young. Our son must be excellent to move the York family’s heart. He’ll have
to put in lots of effort to excel.
“No pain, no gain, right?”
Jasmine thought he had a point.
The Yorks were bossy and difficult people by nature. Their daughter would not be easy to marry.
When that time came, Serenity probably could not make decisions despite being the daughter’s
mother.
Josh smiled and said, “We’ll just think about it and not take it seriously. The York family is filled with
men. It’ll be miraculous if Zachary manages to have a daughter.”
Jasmine said, “Of course Zachary can’t give birth to a daughter. He doesn’t have the ability to give birth
in the first place. Seren’s the one who can do that.”
