Chapter 1956

Sophia was shocked.

She anxiously followed up with questions, “Kevin knows you’re a woman? How did he find out?”

It was the first time anybody ever doubted that her daughter was not a man.

Once the shock subsided, Sophia was hit with a wave of a pleasant surprise.

For Kevin to suspect her daughter’s gender, it could only mean that Kevin believed Hayden was a

woman. It was probably why Kevin was wooing Hayden now.

In that case, Sophia’s daughter had a chance to marry into the York family so long as Kevin had no

interest in the wife candidate Old Mrs. York picked for him.

Sophia was on a roller coaster of emotions.

Getting a headache, Hayden replied, “I don’t know what started the suspicion, but I’m certain that I

gave away nothing.”

The longest time she ever spent with Kevin was over the weekend.

Oftentimes, it was only an occasional encounter that was kept brief.

They had not hung out a lot.

Other people who had been in Hayden’s company daily never suspected she was a woman.

“Ask him. What proof does he have that you’re a woman?”

Sophia’s tone carried a hint of thrill.

Picking up on her mother’s excitement, Hayden knew what she was thinking. Hayden put a damper on

Sophia’s hope. “Grandma May had chosen a wife for Kevin, Mom. He will marry that woman

eventually.”

Sophia answered, “You never know what the future holds. What did Kevin say, Hay? What made him

suspect in the first place?”

She heard good things about the Yorks, and the senior members of the York family were open-minded

too.

Even if Hay was not the preferred wife for Kevin, Sophia believed Hay beat all the other heiresses. If

Kevin liked Hay, and the feelings were mutual, the elders of the York family would respect Kevin’s

decision and accept her daughter.

The Queens did not mind Kevin marrying into the family instead if the Yorks could not accept Kevin and

Hay being together.

“His suspicion stemmed from his gut feeling. He has no concrete proof that I am a woman.”

Hayden left out the details about Kevin telling her to take off her clothes.novelbin

“I will deal with it, Mom. Don’t worry or overthink it.”

Hayden did not want to dwell on the subject anymore.

Sophia said, “I know you can manage anything. Your dad and I don’t doubt your capabilities. We are

simply worried that you’d be an old spinster.

“Hay, although Kevin is set up with another woman, it’s not like you don’t have a chance. He’s trying to

win your heart. You don’t have to respond now, but you can observe him for a while and decide

whether he’s worth…”

“Mom!”

Hayden helplessly added. “Marriage is not in the cards for me. I can’t get used to being a woman.

She had been a man all her life.

“But you’re a woman.”

“Is it mandatory for all women to get married?”

Sophia replied, “Fine. I won’t push the agenda anymore. Go on with your work. I got to go.”

She then terminated the call.

Sophia could not wait to give her husband the juicy details now that she hung up the phone. “Donald,

we can ask Kevin out for dinner. He’s pursuing our daughter now. Plus, he suspects that Hay isn’t a

man.”

Donald had been listening to the phone conversation between his wife and daughter, so he already

knew what was going on.

He responded with a smile, “I knew Kevin would make a cute couple with Hay. The boy has good taste.

The Yorks raised all their children right and trained them to have a discerning eye.”
