Chapter 1889

Hayden replied, “Does that mean you can only pursue the person chosen by your grandmother? Can’t

you choose someone else?”

Kevin nodded and said, “It can only be the person my nana chose.”novelbin

Mr. and Mrs. Queen’s eagerness dampened completely.

All that enthusiasm was for nothing!

Hayden looked for her parents’ reaction while questioning Kevin.

Seeing their enthusiasm drained, Hayden decided not to pursue the topic any further.

Sophia was unwilling to accept this and asked Kevin, “Kevin, you and your brothers are all capable and

outstanding individuals. Why should your grandmother make decisions about your marriage?”

Donald chimed in, “Young people nowadays should pursue freedom in love and marriage. Unlike in the

old society, parents cannot make decisions for their children’s marriages. They can only offer

suggestions.

“Your parents remained silent, but you let your grandmother decide for you. Marriage is not child’s play,

it is a lifelong event and the wife you marry will be with you for the rest of your life. What if you don’t like

the person your grandmother picks for you?

“Will you just settle down and make do for the rest of your life?”

Kevin tasted a spoonful of food he picked up and told Hayden, “Mr. Hayden, this dish is delicious. You

should give it a try.”

Hayden only glanced at the dish and then proceeded to eat her food gracefully.

She said casually, “The chefs in my family are all recruited from five-star hotels. Each dish can achieve

top-class taste, aroma, and visual presentation. Mr. York, if you think they’re tasty, please help yourself

to more. It’s also a recognition of my family’s chefs.”

Kevin managed the catering business of the York Corporation, and there was nothing delicious that he

had not tried before.

To the Queens’ family chef, being praised by him was like receiving a grand prize.

Kevin once again grabbed a spoonful of food. After finishing the food, he answered Donald’s question.

He said, “Mr. Donnie, we've been very close with our nana since we were little. Nana understood our

temperament very well, she would know which type of person would be suitable for each and every one

of us.

“The candidates Nana picked out for us are sure to make a good match for us. I believe Nana wants

the best for us. My brothers and I didn’t have any girls we liked. Our nana gave us some suitable

targets, and we would try to get together with them. Within one year, we would have generated feelings

for them.

“Even if we weren’t suited for each other, we could just tell Nana about it. She’s an understanding

woman, so she would not force us to marry a woman who we do not love.”

Marriage was an important once-in-a-lifetime event; they would not take it lightly.

Grandma May, even more so.

“Didn’t you say earlier that your grandmother gave you one year’s time to get married? And that if you

couldn’t fulfill her wishes within one year, she would kick you out of Wildridge Manor?”

Sophia could see a glimmer of hope, but she had to question him more thoroughly.

“Yeah. However, both of my elder brothers had already surrendered not even a year in.”

His marriage candidate was Hayden. In the eyes of the people in Jensburg, Hayden was the young

master of the Queens. If Kevin were to openly pursue Hayden, not only would he not get a response,

he would also be mistaken as a homosexual.

He wanted to expose Hayden’s lies bit by bit. Once Hayden had no choice but to reveal her identity as

a woman, he could then openly pursue Hayden.

However, he was slow to act. Half a year had already passed, and he was left with a few months’ time.

It was uncertain whether he could make Hayden his girlfriend within these few months.

Everyone in the Queen family fell silent.

Zachary took the route of marriage before love while Callum spent half a year to win the heart of Ms.

Newman, with both of them now engaged and their love as strong as glue, rousing the envy of many.
