Mr. Daniels gave his daughter a dry towel and left those words before turning on his heel to leave.
Jenna took the towel and watched her father leave, knowing that something was up.
Maybe Zachary canceled the partnership proposal because of the little tickle on his palm? The Daniels
Group’s proposal offered significant profits to both companies.
It was a win-win project, and a lot of companies had extended their interest in participating.
Zachary was a businessman.
Surely, he would not turn his back on a big payoff.
Jenna climbed out of the swimming pool and entered the changing room for a change of clothes before
taking off.
She stepped into the living room and saw her father sitting on the sofa.
His face was flushed with brewing anger.
There was a bouquet and a few shopping bags in front of her father.
“Dad, who gave you those? Did you buy them for me?” Jenna said while approaching, “I’m going to tell
Mom if they are gifts for you.” She followed her father around with the expectation to take over the
company and to keep a watchful eye on her father from cheating for her mother’s sake.
Mom was worried Dad might have an affair with another woman to have a son.
Since Mom was old and could not carry another child, she felt sorry for Dad for only giving him a
daughter.
Dad had some medical issues, but Mom mentioned that Dad had been looking after his health over the
years.
A second child was not in the cards for the Danielses because Mom was not getting any younger.
For all they knew, Dad might get together with a young woman to have a son.
Jenna was all Mrs. Daniels could have, and she was a daughter.
The last thing Mrs. Daniels wanted was for her husband to be persuaded by people to have a son with
another woman and raise a son to pass down the family business to.
Mrs. Daniels wanted to protect her daughter’s interests and stop her husband from having an affair.
“Don’t you remernber these flowers? Don’t these clothes look familiar to you?” Mr. Daniels picked up
the bouquet and tossed it at his daughter.
Jenna caught the bouquet.
She picked up on the message between the lines.
Color washed off her face at the thought of what she had done today, but she quickly got a grip on
herself.
She blatantly said, “ Oh, so you know? The flowers...
Well, they look familiar.
Are those the flowers I sent to Zachary’s residence on the hilltop?” She then took the few shopping
bags for a look.
“I bought these clothes and ties to deliver to Zachary’s place.
The gifts are a little token of my regard.
Why is the stuff with you, Dad?” Turning ashen in the face, Mr. Daniels jolted up with the mind of
slapping his daughter.
Still, he raised his hand but could not bring himself to hit her.
He had never laid a finger on his daughter.
It took him many visits to the doctors, many medications, and much effort to get his health on track to
have Jenna.
Plus, his daughter really took after him.
Jenna was the apple of Mr. Daniels’s eye.
Mr. Daniels put his hand down in the end.
Even so, it freaked Jenna out.
She thought her father was going to hit her.
Jenna was scared.
Even though Mr. Daniels did not give his daughter a slap, he did poke Jenna on the forehead.
Caught between emotions, he said, “ Did my words fall on deaf ears? I told you that Zachary is married.
He has a wife who he loves dearly.
Stop pining over him.
You’re only embarrassing yourself.
“You went against my wishes and sent him flowers, clothes, and ties.
I’m your father, but I don’t see you giving me any clothes or ties.
“Did you think by delivering those gifts to Zachary’s residence, Mrs. York will take things the wrong way
and get into a fight with Zachary? The couple has trust in each other.
How could she possibly fall for it?” Mr. Daniels gave it to his daughter.
“You should be lucky that Mrs. York trusts Mr. York and did not think otherwise about the situation.
Otherwise, you would be facing Mr. York’s wrath.
Do you think Mr. York can’t touch us because our business isn’t based in Wiltspoon?” Not one to backnovelbin
down, Jenna answered back, “Serenity is not good enough for Zachary! She can’t do anything for
Zachary, except in the bedroom.
She can’t even give him a child! “T like Zachary, and I want to be with him.
So what if he’s married? I will pursue whoever and whatever I want.
Everybody has the right to fall in love.
Besides, I’m so much better than Serenity.
I can kick Serenity out so long as Zachary gives mea chance and gets to know me.” Livid, Mr. Daniels
raised his hand once more to give her a slap.
“Tt’s not up to you to decide whether Mrs. York deserves Mr. York or not.
The York family has no objections, and their opinions count.”
