The assistant handed over the phone. Caroline saw that familiar handsome face, Nathan. He invited
her to join a video call to chat.
Nathan was currently in the presidential suite of a six-star hotel. The suite was full of subtle and
luxurious finishes, which was his style and pleasing to the eye. Due to the time difference, it was
already nighttime in his place. The bright champagne-color lights over his head made his already good-
looking face shine.
Nathan was wearing dark blue silk pajamas. His short hair was wet, so it was apparent he just took a
shower. He looked so young and handsome. Through the screen, he looked over, frowned slightly, and
asked in a low voice, “Why didn’t you answer the phone?”
Caroline held the phone and replied, “I didn’t hear it.”
“Ha.” Nathan laughed and cursed, “Little liar.”
“Little liar…” Caroline was speechless when she heard that.
“Mr. Faraday, this is the suit and shirt you will wear at a meeting later.” At that time, a woman appeared
on the other end of the video call.
Caroline recognized that voice. It was the woman who answered Nathan’s phone earlier.
The woman was dressed in a black professional two-piece set, with a small black suit above and a
figure-hugging skirt on the bottom. Further down was a pair of black leggings with stiletto heels. She
was an eye-catching professional mature young lady with red lips and white teeth.
Nathan’s suit and shirt were held in the woman’s arms and were ironed until there were no wrinkles.
She placed them gently on the king-sized bed. The woman looked up at him, and her eyes were full of
light while staring at him.
Nathan did not look at the woman but stared at Caroline in the camera. “What are you thinking? She’s
just a female secretary.”
Nathan’s words made Caroline blush. She wondered why he told her that. It was not surprising for a
CEO like him to have a female secretary to take care of his daily life. “I’m not thinking about anything.”
Nathan looked at half of Caroline’s face shown in the video call, which was fragile and beautiful without
scars. He whispered, “I’ve been working since I reached here. I don’t have time to do anything. Don’t
think so much.”
Caroline found that their conversation was heading in a strange direction. The atmosphere already
became ambiguous. She did not understand why Nathan took the initiative to explain, especially the
sentence “Don’t think so much,” which really made her think more.
That man was in the business world for years and was a natural superior. He had a mature and sedate
man’s charm. If he were willing to be gentler, it would give people an affectionate illusion, especially
since his deliberately low attractive voice was like a whisper between lovers.
Caroline was only 20 years old and had never experienced that before. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang
up.” She hurried to
end the call.
Nathan had a meeting later, so they could not chat longer. “Stay in the hospital at ease. We’ll talk about
everything when I get back.”
After the video call, the assistant said respectfully, “Ms. Sullivan, he hospital has already arranged a
senior nursing worker and a professional team of doctors here. You can call me if there’s any

After sending the assistant away, Caroline sat by the bed to accompany Nora. This time, she sincerely
thanked Nathan as if her chaotic world would be peaceful as soon as Nathan appeared

In the next two days, Caroline crafted perfumes during the daytime and rushed back to the hospital to
accompany Nora at night. As the former was too tired, she fell asleep by the latter’s bed during
nighttime.
At that time, a series of steady footsteps came from the corridor outside, slowly approaching from far
away. Then, the door of the ward was opened.
Nathan was back. He came late at night, wearing a black coat on the outside, a black suit of the same
color inside, and black leather gloves on his hands. He had endured the hardships of the long journey
and rushed back in a hurry.
Alfred stayed outside of the ward and closed the door. Nathan came to the bedside and saw the girl
