Marnie hesitated for a while and nodded her head. “Yes.”

So Sergio brought Marnie to Wanda’s house.
By the time they reached, Leroy and Claire hadn’t arrived yet.
Sabrina was surprised to see Marnie since she hadn’t expected Marnie to come. Curiously, Sabrina
studied Marnie’s frame and saw that she was thin and not yet showing any signs of being pregnant.
Sabrina smiled at Marnie warmly and greeted, “I didn’t expect to see you here. Have a seat.”
Sergio and Marnie took a seat, with Marnie holding onto Sergio’s arm.
Marnie smiled at Sabrina and said, “I heard from Sergio that you are moving abroad. I’m afraid we
won’t be able to see each other much in the future. Therefore, I came to see you off.”
Marnie used to call Sabrina Miss Chavez. But now that the date for their wedding ceremony had been
set, she called Sabrina by her name.
“Thank you. I’m afraid I won’t be able to attend your wedding. But don’t worry. The wedding gift has
already been prepared,” Sabrina teased.
After a few more exchanges of pleasantries, Sabrina told Sergio, “Sergio, Wanda is in the room. You
should take Marnie to see her.”
“Fine.” Sergio nodded his head and got to his feet, Marnie’s hand in his.
Marnie could barely hide the look of longing and expectation on her face.
She knew that Wanda was an elder who was loved and respected by everyone in the Blakely family. It
would be good for her if she could win Wanda’s favor.
After a while, Leroy and Claire arrived.
The moment Claire walked into the house, she looked around expectantly. But she saw no sight of
Sergio and Marnie. She turned to Sabrina and asked, “Is Sergio here?”
“Yes. He and Marnie are talking to Wanda in the room.”
Rolling her eyes, Claire sat beside Sabrina and said, “Pay no mind to her presence. I didn’t invite her
here.”
Leroy cleared his throat and said something to Sabrina, effectively changing the subject.
Claire echoed Leroy’s words.
They were in the midst of their conversation when Sergio and Marnie came out of Wanda’s room.
