Chapter 284 We Are Calling It Even

Yedda Ortiz was shocked at his dad's words and stared at him wide-eyed. "Dad, you can't be thinking

of using up the favor on Nathan Cross by asking Mr. Turner to let him off, right?”

Howard Ortiz nodded and answered, "You know me. I have always been upright and aboveboard in my

dealings. Since Nathan Cross has saved my life, I can't leave him in the lurch after knowing that he is

in grave danger."

Yedda Ortiz was clear about her father's character. The man was as stubborn as a mule. Once he had

set his mind on something, no one would be able to persuade him otherwise. As such, Yedda Ortiz had

no choice but to support his decision.

Howard Ortiz contacted Dip Turner that very night.

Dip Turner was rather surprised to receive the call from Howard Ortiz.

After knowing the reason for his old friend's call, he was even more baffled.

When Dip Turner recovered from his shock, he asked, "Howard, are you sure you want to use up that

one precious favor I owe you on Nathan Cross?"

Howard Ortiz answered resolutely, "Yup, I hope that Mr. Turner can grant me my wish."

Dip Turner pondered for a while and agreed. "OK then, I'll spare his life. From now on, you and I are

calling it even."

"Thanks for keeping your words, Mr. Turner," Howard Ortiz replied.

Nathan Cross was completely unaware that the old man whom he had saved by chance, was actually

the former wealthiest man in Channing.

He would be even more surprised to learn that, in exchange for his goodwill, Howard Ortiz had saved

his life from behind the scenes.

Nathan and Penny had a romantic candlelit dinner at the I'Agneau restaurant before returning home.

When the couple reached home, Benson, Leah, Kylie and Queenie were hanging out in the living room

and watching TV.

"Daddy, Mommy!"

Queenie sprang up and ran towards her parents when she saw them.

Nathan bent down and lifted his daughter up.

Penny placed the fruits which she had bought on the table and asked curiously, "Mom, what are you

guys chatting about? You look so happy!"

Benson Smith was smiling ear to ear as he replied, "Your mom had a windfall today, of course she's

happy."

Penny Smith was even more intrigued.

"Wow, what kind of windfall? Sounds like you had a lucky day, mom. Please tell me what happened!"

Leah hit her husband's arm lightly, blaming him for being a busybody, before explaining to Nathan and

Penny, "Do you remember that your dad had bought me a fake ruby necklace for my birthday? I wore it

out today and bumped into May.novelbin

She complimented it and I told her that it was just an imitation. But she said that she liked it and offered

to buy it from me."

Sensing a disaster, Nathan Cross asked Leah, "Mom, did you really sell the necklace to her?"

Nathan Cross kept quiet after hearing his mother-in-law's recount of the event.

In reality, Nathan had bought that necklace for Benson to gift Leah.

However, he had not told anyone that it was, in fact, a real ruby necklace worth over a hundred million.

Leah was quick enough to realize something was amiss from Nathan's silence. Feeling nervous, she

asked Nathan and Benson, "Why? Don't tell me I sold it at a loss!" Reаd at Dramanovеls.com

Nathan smiled and replied, "Don't worry, mom. It's a pretty reasonable price.”

At that very instance, everyone turned their attention towards Nathan Cross.
