Seth blinked in realization and chuckled, "Ms. Smith, why are you calling me?"
Penny hurriedly explained, "I need your help, Mr. Carney. My husband had offended the retiredMajor General, Tristan
Westwood."
"The Channing army had just arrested him. Can you help me ask the Major General to release myhusband?"
Upon hearing her request, Seth responded playfully, "Sure, that shouldn't be a problem."
"But Ms. Smith, you refused to attend my cocktail party. That means you didn't even think of me asa friend. Why should I help you save your husband then?”
Penny answered at once, "Mr. Carney, I have no one else to turn to. You're my last hope. If you'rewilling to save my husband, I'll reward you handsomely."
Seth smirked. "I don't need money. If you want to save your husband, come to Soho Club and havea few drinks with me."

Penny was really worried about Nathan, so she agreed to go instantly.
After hanging up, she told her family and left with the car keys in her hand.

help.”

"Where's Penny's bodyguard, Frida? Why didn't she stop Penny?"
Benson replied in a tiny voice, "Frida asked for a day off as she was unwell. She's at the hospitalnow."
No wonder! If either Frida or Kylie were here, they'd know that I'll be fine. They'll stop Penny fromgoing to Seth too.
With that, Nathan turned to leave.
At Soho Club, Penny had already downed eight glasses of brandy.
Her cheeks were flushed and she was already tipsy.
Seth was sitting on the sofa with his legs crossed. He studied Penny with narrowed eyes. Sheseemed more alluring when she was drunk.

The woman reminded her. "You have made a deal with Mr. Carney. He will save your husband onlyif you drink nine glasses of brandy. Now that you don't keep to your end of the bargain, how do youexpect him to save your husband then?"
