Maxine was deep in thought while James was sewing her clothes.
Amid her thoughts, she failed to notice James turning around.

Grandpa punishes me for ruining the marriage?” Maxine looked at James and waited for an answer.
James pondered before answering, “Didn't you say it was part of his plan? Even if the photos were
leaked, wouldn’t he try to explain things?”
“That being said, do you think the Blithes will believe I was framed? If the Blithes still carry on with the
marriage, what will people think of them?”
“What do you mean?” James looked at Maxine. He did not understand what she meant by the
question.
“Nothing. I’ll take things one step at a time.” Maxine shook her head. She was disappointed by James’
answer.
Perhaps to James, she was not important. Despite what happened between them, his attitude
remained the same.
She sat in a lotus position and remained silent.
Meanwhile, James grilled the meat.
Soon, the hare meat was ready. James tore off a leg and handed it to Maxine, saying, “Try some.”
“I’m not hungry.” Maxine did not open her eyes.
James felt awkward and retracted his hand.
After he finished eating, he assumed a lotus position as well.
They quietly waited for dawn to arrive.
