Chapter 947

On the cliff…

Thea’s eyes frequently glanced down the cavern as she waited impatiently for James and Maxine to

return.

After checking for the umpteenth time, she finally saw James climbing back up and excitedly chirped,

“How did it go, Honey?”

James shook his head sadly. “This cavern is bottomless, and the heat was searing hot down there. We

couldn't go any deeper. I doubt grandpa would’ve survived.”

Maxine climbed up after him.

James sighed and said dejectedly, “We’re done here. Let's go back.”

Since they could not find him, James did not intend to waste another second in this cavern.

Based on what he and Maxine had gleaned from the clues, he had a rough idea of what might have

happened.

His grandfather was most likely still alive.

He was still slightly dubious about Maxine’s theory.

James firmly believed that his grandfather would not bring harm him, or Thea.

The only thing he was unsure about was why his grandfather needed to come up with so many

elaborate plots.

James turned around and left.

Thea followed after him. After seeing them leave, the accompanying soldiers followed suit.novelbin

When they left the underground cavern, one of the soldiers took out a walkie-talkie and instructed the

helicopters that had left to look for an appropriate landing spot to turn back.

Soon, the helicopters returned.

Not long later, everyone was brought back to the Nothern Border’s military region.

Inside a military barrack…

The Centurion looked at James and asked, “Going back so soon?”

“Yeah.” James nodded.

“The Capital is in a mess right now, and I’ve got to rush back to Cansington as soon as possible to

handle some urgent matters.”

The Centurion sighed and said, “I’ve heard about the Capital. As a member of the Cadens and the

Dragon King that killed the Emperor, it’ll be difficult for you to escape unscathed. You’ll need to take a

step back to keep moving forward.”

He stretched out his hand and thumped it loudly on James’ chest. “I have faith in you. I’m sure you’ll be

able to resolve everything.”

James smiled bitterly at him. “Alright, that’s enough. Let’s drink again when we have a chance.”

After saying his farewells, he turned around and boarded the private plane the Centurion had prepared

for them.

Thea and Maxine boarded after him.

The plane slowly took off and disappeared into the sky.

On the plane, James asked, “Thea, where exactly are Quincy and Tiara?”

“I really have no idea. Grandpa didn’t tell me.”

Thea took James’ hand and looked at him reassuringly. “However, you don’t have to worry. They’re

both safe and doing well.”

James believed in Thea’s words.

A small corner of his heart twinged in worry since he could not verify their safety himself.

He sighed deeply.

It was a tumultuous situation, and he already had a hard time trying to defend himself. As long as

Quincy and Tiara remained in Cansington, they would be subjected to constant danger. Since Thomas

had provided them asylum, that took one of the worries off James’ mind.

James remained silent for the remaining journey.

Cansington, military region.

A plane from the Northern Borders landed.

Prior to James' return to Cansington, the Centurion had already notified the city's military region

through his connections.

The Blithe King had already brought several soldiers to wait for his arrival.

James, Thea, and Maxine got off the plane.

The Blithe King approached them with a smile. “James, why’d you visit the Northern Border?”

James shook his hand. “I happened to have something urgent to settle. By the way, why did you

disclose my whereabouts to Sunleigh City’s military region last time?”

“Me? When did I do that?”

The Blithe King was taken aback by his accusation and knit his brows. “Why would I reveal your

whereabouts?”

James cast his gaze on Daniel who was standing behind the Blithe King.

Daniel immediately refuted, “Dragon King, you’re not suspecting me of being the person who revealed

your whereabouts, right? I swear I never said a word to anyone.”

If it was not the Blithe King or Daniel who let it slip,, how did Hardy stationed at Sunleigh City know he

would be there? Why did he also claim that the Cansington military region reported his whereabouts to

them?
