Chapter 945

Mount Arclens.

Several helicopters hovered lazily in the sky.

Due to the lack of flat ground on the mountain’s peak, the helicopters could not land safely and were

forced to hover in place as their passengers alighted.

The helicopter's cabin door opened, and lengths of rope were thrown from the side of the door. Soon,

uniformed men abseiled down along with some equipment.

James looked down from the cabin.

They were at least 50 meters above the ground. Although James was at the pinnacle of the first rank,

he would most certainly not survive jumping down from such a high altitude.

He fastened the rope to his belt, leaped out of the cabin, and quickly slid down. Shortly afterward, he

landed soundly on the ground with a muffled thump.novelbin

Maxine followed suit and appeared on the ground shortly after him.

Meanwhile, Thea was gazing down from the helicopter in terror, her face as white as a sheet.

Despite having cultivated True Energy to the third rank, she saw far away she was from the ground and

did not dare take another step.

Even with the rope as a safety measure, she still refused to slide down. She backed herself further into

the cabin and hesitated. It took her a while to decide to go through with it, since she was scared that

people would look down on her due to her cowardice.

When she reached the cabin door again, she activated her True Energy and grabbed a hold of the

rope. She slid down like a rock falling through the air.

Having difficulty landing firmly, she crashed into the ground.

Since she had used her True Energy to protect herself, the impact was painless and she was

unharmed.

Nevertheless, she still felt embarrassed. Standing up, she glanced at James and Maxine, then admitted

sheepishly, “I still haven't quite mastered using True Energy.

James smiled proudly and praised her, “You’re not too shabby.”

Thea had definitely grown in the time he had known her.

The soft girl of the past was now capable of sliding down a rope 50 meters above the ground.

“Thanks a lot, my dear. I'll do my best not to keep up with you! In order to improve my combat skills,

I've also decided to join military training.” Thea's expression displayed her resolve.

James said nothing in response to her determined declaration. When he saw the equipment carried

down by the soldiers, he looked at Maxine and Thea. “Let’s head into the underground cavern.”

He picked up some metal equipment and insulated clothing, then quickly entered the underground

cavern.

The helicopters left them in order to look for solid ground to land on.

A short while later, James reached the spot where Thomas had fallen.

James prepared heat-resistant gear specifically because Thomas had warned him that there was lava

further down the cavern.

After putting on the heat-resistant suit, he began preparations by rigging the pulleys onto the stone

walls.

Maxine also donned a heat-resistant suit.

When James noticed her, tried to quickly stop Maxine. “Maxine, stay up here. I’ll head down myself.”

Maxine looked at him adamantly. “I’ll go with you so we can watch each other’s backs. Plus, I also want

some closure on whether Thomas is dead or not.”

“Alright.” James nodded and stepped back.

“ I'll come too.” Thea did not want to be left out.

James turned to her and said firmly, “No, you won’t. Just stay up here and wait.”

Thea pouted and said dissapointedly, “Fine if you insist.”

As soon as everyone was finished with their preparations, James and Maxine began their descent into

the underground cavern.

Due to their proficiency in martial arts, they descended easily. The aid of equipment made it even

smoother.

The underground cavern was like a bottomless abyss.

They kept descending until they were several hundred meters below the surface. However, they had

yet to reach the bottom.

Their current location was scorching hot.

Despite wearing heat-resistant suits, they still felt the intense heat.

James balanced himself on a protruding rock and looked down.

Although he could feel the steam coming from beneath, it was impossible to see all the way to the

bottom.

Maxine swiftly warned him. “James, the temperature is getting too high. If we continue going any

deeper, the heat-resistant suits will lose their effectiveness. Plus…”

The cavern they descended was uneven, with various places either having indents or protrusions
