Chapter 2151

James was truly interested in the Burial Jade.

Since Zoe brought up the topic, James expressed his interest in the jade pendant.

As for the Targwyns' ancestral land, James knew the Targwyns were renowned in the past. Thefamily’s predecessors once made up the greatest clan in a certain period of history.

Thus, the Targwyns' ancestral land was undoubtedly an extraordinary location.

This piqued his interest and James was intrigued to see it.

Zoe briefly hesitated after James stated his refusal to marry Laelia.

The jade pendant was their family heirloom, and they refused to hand it over even at the cost oftheir entire city, so it was impossible to simply hand it over to James.

Although James did indeed save their family, Zoe was unwilling to give it to James as a simple giftof gratitude.

He would only bequeath it to James in the form of a dowry.

“Mr. Caden, the jade pendant has been handed down by our family’s ancestors and is a verysentimental item to our family. We can only offer it to you in the form of a dowry. Please forgive me.”

Zoe was upfront with his reservations.

James would have to marry Laelia if he wanted the jade pendant.

Disappointed, James said, “If that’s the case, then forget it.”

There was also a look of disappointment on Laelia's face.

She was in favor of marrying James but did not want to force the issue since he already had a wife.

Sitting at the head of the table, Zoe called out, “Laelia.”

Laelia nodded and replied, “Yes, Father?”

Zoe ordered, “Since Mr. Caden is interested in our family’s ancestral land, you should take himthere tomorrow.”

“Understood.” Laelia nodded.

“Alright. Everyone’s dismissed.”

Zoe stood up and left the main hall first.

The other Targwyn family members also left one after another.

Laelia led James back to the palace’s backyard.

In the backyard, Laelia said with a soft smile, “You don’t have to take it seriously, James. Eventhough my father’s plan to marry us fell through, you don’t have to feel burdened or pressured.”

James smiled and replied, “I should be apologizing to you instead. I’m sorry I publicly rejected themarriage and embarrassed you.”

Laelia smiled bashfully in response.

Suddenly, James remembered something and asked, “By the way, what kind of place is theTargwyns' ancestral land?”

Laelia explained, “It’s where our family used to live a long time ago. Our ancestors have lived therefor generations. We only left the ancestral land a thousand years ago.”

“Oh, is there anything special about your family’s ancestral land?” asked James.

Laelia shook her head and said, “I’m not very sure about that. However, there’s a rumor that’s beenpassed down about a super powerful ancestor that existed in our family. It’s said that he left hislegacy behind in that land. Many years have passed, but no one has ever unearthed thisinheritance. Every family member is granted permission to visit the ancestral land when they comeof age to try their luck looking for this legacy.”

Laelia briefly explained her family’s ancestral land.

Although she did not know much about their family history, she knew they had a powerful ancestor.

James was intrigued by the Targwyns’ ancestral land after briefly learning about it.

Laelia took out the jade pendant and looked at it, saying, “I’d love to give it to you, but my fathersaid it’s our family’s heirloom, so I can’t just give it away.”

James gently waved his hand and said, “I’m just curious about it. It’s not that I really want it. Plus, itmay not even be useful to me.”novelbin

Laelia absentmindedly looked at the Burial Jade. With doubt on her pretty face, she said, “I’ve noidea what secret this jade pendant holds.”

James looked at it, and then a thought flashed in his mind. He suggested, “Perhaps it hassomething to do with your family’s ancestral land.”

“Perhaps.”

Laelia put away the jade pendant and did not think much of it anymore.

“You shout rest well for the night. I’ll bring you to there tomorrow.”

“Alright.” James nodded.
