Cody warned him.
When he encountered Cody by the city gate, James’ primary objective was to find out Magnus’strength. Besides, he knew that Cody was strong considering that even his subordinate could sendhim flying with ease.
“Magnus Quinnton of the Overworld challenged me to a duel on Mount Bane in a week. I came hereto find out his strength,” James explained.
Cody smiled and said, “That’s simple, I’ll get someone to investigate for you.” Then, he made awelcoming gesture, saying, “Follow me in. I promise no one would dare make a move against you.”
He spoke nonchalantly. James could tell that Cody was fully assured of his own strength. So, heaccepted his offer and followed Cody into the city.
Previously, there were guards stationed by the city gate. Ever since Tristen was annihilated, theywere dismissed, which led to the current situation. Even so, no one dared make a ruckus in BaneCity.
James and Cody entered the city unopposed.
In a restaurant, James and Cody sat by the window seat.
Cody treated him to a delicious meal.
James had no idea what he was up to. However, he did not question him and instead quietly sippedon his wine, staring blankly at the Outsiders wandering about the streets.
“James,” Cody suddenly said.
“Huh?” James collected himself and looked at him.
Cody smiled and said, “Have you heard that many earthlings of this era will possess the SupremeSpiritual Root?”
James nodded and said, “I have.”
Cody asked, “Have you ever met one personally?”
James looked at him and shook his head slightly, saying, “No.”
Cody said, “It’s actually rather easy to spot them. There are Four Holy Beasts on Earth, and thosewho experience Energy Deviation after consuming the blood of the Four Holy Beasts would be the
ones who possess the Supreme Spiritual Root. I heard that your wife, Thea Callahan, is exactly inthe same situation.”
James’ heartbeat accelerated. He never thought that Cody would have investigated Thea themoment he arrived on Earth. Since he knew nothing about Cody’s intentions, he feigned ignorance.novelbin
