Chapter 1961

James was a soldier.

A soldier’s duty was to protect the country’s people.

He developed this sense of responsibility after serving in the military for more than ten years. Theworld would be over if everyone shrank away from danger and refused to step up.

“Well said.” The custodian nodded gently.

She agreed with James’ words.

In ancient times, there was a group of people with the same mentality. They were the reason Earthwas saved.

“Ms. Custodian, is there any chance I’ll come back to life?”

James’ looked at the custodian with his translucent eyes. He was unwilling to accept his fate. Therewas so much more that he wanted to do, and even more that he had not accomplished yet.

The custodian replied softly, “It’s possible. However, the responsibility and burden placed on you willbe much heavier.”

James replied determinedly, “I’ll do whatever it takes.”

The custodian waved her hand, and James’ illusory body glided upwards.

His vision went foggy. When he opened his eyes again, he appeared in an unfamiliar place.

“Where are we, Ms. Custodian?”

James looked at the figure slowly forming before him and scanned his surroundings withtrepidation.

He had never been to this unfamiliar place before.

Surrounding them were black and gold walls. It felt like he had been transported to some sort ofebony palace.

“This is the deepest part of the Chamber of Scriptures.”

The custodian parted her lips, scanned her surroundings, and said, “Untold secrets and powerfultreasures are stored in this place. There are also countless magical items left behind by Earth’sancestors kept here. There’s something here that can resurrect you.”

Overjoyed, James asked, “What is it?”

“Follow me.”

The custodian’s spectral body slowly gained corporeal form as she walked forward.novelbin

James followed behind her.

She walked ahead, pushed open a black stone door, and continued into the depths of theunderground cavern.

After crossing some winding paths, they arrived at a mysterious place.

Colorful streaks of light shone from the ground and crisscrossed in the air, forming an enigmaticpattern.

James did not understand the pattern. From his perspective, he could only see the rays of lightscrisscrossing continuously. He could vaguely see some mysterious ancient scriptures. They were

ancient, so he was not able to recognize them.

“What is this, Ms. Custodian?” James was confused.

The custodian waved her hand, causing the crisscrossing light rays and ancient scriptures todisappear. A black lotus flower giving off a black glow appeared before them.

“This is a Demonic Lotus.”

The custodian looked at the black lotus before them.

The lotus was three meters wide and had nine petals. The petals let off a faint black glow fromwithin them.

James questioned, “What is this Demonic Lotus?”

The custodian explained, “In ancient times, a powerful human left it behind after his death.”

James was puzzled.

He could not understand why the custodian showed him the black lotus.

The custodian turned to look at James.

James finally saw the custodian’s appearance. She was gorgeous and had lovely features. Her facewas akin to a flawless piece of porcelain with no imperfections. Across her alluring face was ararely-seen expression of seriousness.

“Tell me, James. Do you know who is the enemy of humankind?”
