Chapter 1936

Maxine got to her feet slowly as well. She looked at Gladys, who was holding Winnie, and said witha cold, detached look on her face, “Give me the child?”

Gladys took a few steps back.

In a flash, Maxine appeared in front of Gladys. Before Gladys could even react, the child in herarms was already taken by Maxine.

“Wahhh.” After being taken away, the child immediately burst out in tears.

With Winnie in her arms, Maxine quickly left the Callahans’ villa.

The Callahan family members, on the other hand, were as pale as ghosts.

“What are we going to do?”

“What exactly is Maxine up to?”

All of the Callahan family members were in a state of panic. Only Lex managed to regain hiscomposure and called James immediately.

“It’s not good, James. Winnie was taken by Maxine.”

James was hastily making his way to Southern Plains’ Dragonville at this precise moment. When heheard that, his heart swelled with intense rage.

“I-I’m rushing over to Cansington.”

He traveled quickly, and he soon reached the military region. He then boarded a private planebound for Cansington. On the plane, he even pulled out his phone and made a call to Maxine.novelbin

Maxine’s phone number remained the same. The call went through shortly. Over the phone, thesound of a child crying could be heard.

When he heard the cries, James was heartbroken. He suppressed his rage, adopted a humbledemeanor, and said in a lowered voice, “Maxine, what are you trying to do?”

“Hehe.” Maxine’s laughter could be heard over the phone. “I’ve changed my mind. Thea and thechild, you can only choose one of them. Don’t say that I’m not giving you a chance. Within a week, bring me Thea’s head. If I don’t see her head within a week, I’ll let you see Winnie’s.”

Maxine laughed in a grim and unsettling way. The sound of her laughter was chilling.

James took a deep breath, stifling his anger and forcing himself not to erupt in rage.

“Don’t mess around, Maxine. Where are you? I’ll come over to you. If there’s a problem, shouldn’twe just talk it out in person? Is it really necessary to go this far?”

“I’ll call you.”

Maxine ended the call after she said that.

Beep, beep, beep.

“Hey, hey!” James shouted, then called back right away.

“Sorry, the number you have dialed is unavailable. Please try again later.”

James kept trying to call, but the calls could not get through.

He was in a panic, and it took him some time to calm down. He then took out his phone and made acall to Henry.

“Mr. Caden.”

Over the phone, Henry’s voice could be heard.

James instructed him, “Make use of every available connection and every method at your disposalto track down Maxine’s whereabouts. If you have any updates, please inform me right away.”

“Yes.” Henry did not ask why since James’ tone was solemn. He could also tell that somethingsignificant had occurred.

After James called Henry, Henry began to pass down the order to use every available means tolocate Maxine.

Meanwhile, James was en route to Cansington by air. Throughout the journey, he remained silent.

He knew what had happened to Maxine, how she had become this way, and why she had takenWinnie.

He wanted to go to Thea.

However, Thea was currently purifying the Demonic Energy in the Chamber of Scriptures. Even ifhe went, he might not be able to see Thea.

James arrived in Cansington late at night, returning once again to the Callahans’ villa.
