Puzzled, James murmured, “Who exactly are they?”
Callan shook his head, “I don’t know either. You can ask Omniscient Deity if you wish to know more.As he lived far longer than we do, not to mention that he’s present in almost all significant events inhistory, he must know something about the Void Sect.”
“Mhm.” James nodded. He shared the same opinion. However, since the Void Sect had yet to crossthe line, he could put them aside for now.
The two returned to the village.
Upon returning, James hurriedly headed over to his plantation. As he had only left for a day or two,the fruit was still the same size. However, it was now redder and more alluring than ever. Jameshad to suppress the urge to swallow it whole.
“James, I kept close watch over your precious herb over the past two days. No one came to stealit.” Callan smiled.
“Thanks, man.”
James was grateful.
Now, he just needed the herb to bear fruit to cross into the ninth rank.
Since James did not wish for anything unexpected to happen, he remained in the village and keptclose watch over the herb.
Every day, he would have a good look at the mysterious fruit. However, the size of the fruit seemedto remain exactly the same. James was not in a hurry, so he waited patiently. “What the hell, James? It’s been two weeks. Why aren’t you back yet?” Thea grumbled over thephone.
James said smilingly, “I’ll be back soon, I promise.”
He was crouching down and scrutinizing the fruit. Though two weeks had passed, the size of thefruit remained the same. James immediately understood that the time had come for him to pluck thefruit.
“Thea, give me a few more days. I’ll pluck the fruit immediately. I’ll be back by your side once Iconsume it and cross into the ninth rank. Don’t worry, I’ll be there when you give birth.”
“I need to go to the hospital for a check-up. I’m hanging up.”
Thea hung up the phone.
Meanwhile, James put his phone away and looked at the mysterious fruit. After hesitating for a briefmoment, he plucked the fruit.
Immediately, the Empyrean Spiritual Energy inside the mysterious herb was drained, and the herbbegan to wither. In just under a minute, the herb was withered.
“What?”
James was dumbfounded.
“Did it seriously wither just like that?”
Looking at the red fruit the size of a thumb, he murmured, “This is good stuff, I guess. I hope thisthing can help me make a breakthrough into the ninth rank in one go.”
Holding the fruit in his hand, James returned to the courtyard and sat in a lotus position. Afterhesitating for a brief moment, he opened his mouth and swallowed the fruit whole.
The moment he munched on the fruit, a fragrance filled his mouth. Then, a warm current circulatedthroughout his body.
At that moment, James’ pores opened, and he slowly levitated into the air. At the same time, a redbeam radiated from inside his body.
