Chapter 1789

Thomas had told him to wait a few days in Cansington for his father to show up. After he met withhis father and asked about his mother, he would leave Cansington with Thea and travel around theworld.

“Alright, then. I won’t send you off.”

After James bid farewell to Cynthia, he contacted Maxine.

Maxine was still in Cansington and had not returned to the Capital.

As a wise woman, she knew James and Thea would get remarried after Thea recovered hermemories.

Thea had always wanted to live in seclusion.

Now that Sol was in peace, there was a high chance James would remarry Thea and live inseclusion with her.

She had been waiting for James to say goodbye.

Thus, she was very calm upon receiving James’ call.

“Alright. I’ll head out right now.”

Maxine hung up the phone and headed to where she had agreed to meet with James.

Their meeting place was in the city square.

James sat on a chair in the square and smoked a cigarette.

Click! Clack! Click! Clack!

High heels could be heard approaching him.

Hearing the footsteps, James raised his head.

It was Maxine, who had come to meet him.

She was dressed in white and had long, chestnut-colored hair. She looked cool as a cucumberupon seeing James.

Maxine walked over and called out sweetly, “James.”

“Maxine, I’m here to say goodbye.”

James went straight to the point.

“Mhm.”novelbin

Maxine gently nodded as she had already expected it.

She looked at James and asked, “Are you leaving with Thea?”

“Mhm.”

James said, “The country and its people are in peace. There probably won’t be any significantproblems in the ancient martial world. Thus, I plan to live a leisurely and peaceful life with Thea inseclusion.

“Congratulations.” Maxine smiled brightly.

“Thank you for all the help you’ve provided me in the past. Without you, Sol would’ve neverrecovered so quickly. The new King would never have succeeded to the title so smoothly withoutyour help either.”

Maxine gently waved her hand and interrupted James, “You don’t need to thank me. I’ve doneeverything willingly.”

“Huff.” James sighed helplessly.

James was naturally aware of Maxine’s feelings and knew that she had been causing troublebehind the scenes. However, he chose to look past them.

“I hope we meet again. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving for the Capital first.”

Maxine waved goodbye to James, turned, and left.

After she left, she returned to her villa in Cansington.

Inside the villa, she held onto the Dragon Essence in her left hand and the dragon blood in her righthand.

She had obtained a piece of the essence and some dragon blood on the island.

Maxine opened her mouth and swallowed the dragon’s blood.

Some of the blood dripped down from the corner of her lips and stained her fair neck red.

At that moment, her beautiful face was grim, and the blood on her lips made her look terrifying.

After swallowing the dragon’s blood, resentment rose in her heart.

She had been silently doing so much for so long.

Ultimately, she got nothing in return except a word of gratitude.

“If I can’t have him, no one can.”

Maxine looked gloomy and horrifying.

“Since I can’t have him, I’ll get rid of him with my own hands.”

After taking the dragon’s blood, Maxine entered a state of insanity.

She was dissatisfied with how things ended. She was full of resentment.

All kinds of negative emotions took root in her heart.
