Chapter 1265

Maxine’s thoughts occupied her brain.

After giving it some consideration, she felt it was necessary to inform James about what had taken

place.

After all, Bennett could have been ambushed and gone into hiding. What’s more, Thomas could not

care less about the Cadens’ affairs.

In contrast, James was the only one in the Cadens that could make accurate judgements about the

situation.

“James.”

“Hmm?”

James turned around and looked at Maxine. Seeing that she was hesitant to speak, he asked, “What’s

the matter? Did something happen?”

Maxine chose her words carefully. “There’s something I must tell you.”

“Go ahead.”

Maxine explained, “Before you regained consciousness, Grandpa summoned me to the underground

basement. Down there, there was a pool of blood on the floor. Grandpa panicked when he saw it and

suddenly ran away. I suspect…”

She told him everything, what she saw, and her speculations.

“What?”

James furrowed his brows. “Are you suggesting that Tobias attacked Bennett?”

Maxine nodded tentatively. “I’m not certain, but this is a very likely possibility.”

Callan was beside them and overheard the conversation. He asked with a serious look, “Did you

personally see Bennett go into the basement?”

Maxine shook her head. “No, I didn’t see him.”

Callan said spikily, “Don’t go about spreading nonsense if you didn’t see it with your own eyes. You’re

simply speculating. Bennett said he was going to recuperate and restore his True Energy. He must still

be somewhere inside the Cadens’ mansion. You should look around before coming to any

conclusions.”

“I agree. Maxine, get the Cadens to look around the mansion for him.” James nodded in agreement.

Maxine left the group and headed to the front yard.

Soon, Thea returned and noticed James’ worried expression. She tried asking him about it, “Honey,

what’s the matter? Did something happen?”

James replied, “Something bad might have happened. However, we’re not certain yet as we’ve yet to

confirm it.”

“What might that be?”

“We suspect Tobias attacked Bennett.”

“Huh? Are you sure?” Thea was startled and asked in shock.

James replied, “No, we can’t confirm whether it’s true yet. Maxine has already gone to the front yard to

tell the Cadens to search for Bennett.”

“Then let’s go check on her,” said Thea.

James nodded and asked, “Did Grandpa take your blood samples to the hospital yet?”

Thea nodded. “Yeah.”

She looked away and continued. “Honey, I…I turned back because I was worried about you. Also, I…”

“I understand.” James did not fault her for her actions.

After all, it was no use crying over spilled milk.

James walked to the front yard.

Thea and Callan were walking behind him.

Many people gathered and murmured among themselves in the front yard.

Maxine explained the situation to the family members.

Someone immediately retorted, saying, “That’s ridiculous. How is this possible? Why would the family

head attack our Grand Patriarch?”

“I agree. Maxine, you’ve already been expelled from the family and are no longer one of us. Stop trying

to pit us against each other.”

Not a single one of them believed Maxine.

James walked over, and the Cadens immediately shut their mouths when they saw him.

He calmly swept his gaze over everyone. “This is still pure speculation at the moment, but what we donovelbin

know is that Tobias fled from the mansion in an unnerved manner. Now that the family head has run off,

who’s in charge?”

The Cadens all exchanged confused looks.
