Chapter 1063

James took the cigarettes with him and left Peace Mansion.

After walking out, Gloom chased after him, calling out, “James.”

James turned around with his hands in his trouser’s pockets as he asked, “What’s the matter?”

Gloom warily surveyed their surroundings, pulled James to a secluded area without guards, and

whispered, “The King wishes to know your whole plan.”

James looked at him flatly, “I don’t have any concrete plans yet. I’ll think about it after I’m officially thenovelbin

commander of the Red Flame Army.”

“What’s wrong? Are you implying that you don’t trust the king?” Gloom furrowed his brows suspiciously.

James dismissed his concerns. “Certainly not. Like I said, I just don’t have any solid plans as of yet.

This isn’t a simple matter and needs a lot of careful deliberation in order to pull it off. I’ll definitely inform

the King after I’ve hashed out the details. Plus, I’ll need the King’s help if the situation demands it.”

“You…” Gloom sighed and shot him a resigned look.

James suddenly recalled something and brought it up, “By the way. I know someone is standing behind

the King. If not, it would’ve been impossible to gain power back then. I’ve heard that his name is Mr.

Lee. What’s his origin?”

Gloom looked at James with a stern expression and whispered ominously, “James, you shouldn’t stick

your nose where it doesn’t belong. If that knowledge is meant for you, you’ll find out sooner or later.”

James shrugged and said, “I had a feeling you’d respond like this. Alright, I’m heading off.”

He turned around and left.

Gloom watched him leave before reentering the mansion.

“King.”

After entering the house, he called out reverently.

The King continued reading the paper as he spoke, “Did James reveal anything?”

Gloom shook his head while saying, “He didn’t, but he asked for information about Mr. Lee.”

“Is that so?” The King was surprised.

He never expected James to inquire about Mr. Lee.

“Do you think James is still a reliable ally? Now that he is both the Dragon King of the Southern Plains

and the commander of the Red Flame Army of the Capital, he could easily launch an attack and claim

Sol as his own if he combines the might of both armies,” the King tented his fingers worriedly.

Gloom pressed his lips in stunned silence. He was not expecting the King to be worried about such an

improbable matter. He thought for some time and answered, “Haven’t you been watching him from the

beginning? I don’t think James is the type of person to do something like that.”

“That’s true, but people can change. Once one attains supreme power, greed is also likely to sprout. If

he happens to have such thoughts, then the country will be split into three factions. The power balance

in Sol will completely be messed up. The final outcome would be hard to predict.”

Gloom said, “James shouldn’t be a person who has these kinds of ambitions… But, if he does have

such thoughts, then we must eliminate him before he gets the chance to become a threat.”

The King waved his hand and said, “We’ll observe him closely for now and use him to break down the

current balance by taking down Yaroslav Gabriel. The election is less than a year away, and we need

to resolve these problems by then.”

All this while, James had no idea that the King was wary of him.

On his way back, he was also thinking about the King.

30 years ago, he heard about what happened when the King came to power.

Back then, the previous Black Dragon died around the same time.

The Black Dragon who took office at that time must have ended up a political sacrifice.
